Women Sew
For 35 Years
To Help Needy
In 1933 a group of women met
at the home of Mrs. T. W. Dealey
to form the St. Anthony’s Needle
Work Guild. It’s job was to make
clothes for the needy of Atlanta.
The guild was a branch of the
National Needle Work Guild.
Today, 35 years later, there are
still eight members of the
guild-Mrs. Ann Campbell, Mrs.
Joe Oberst, Mrs. Emma Hock,
Mrs. Frances Redmond, Mrs,
Eyrich, Mrs. William Brand, Miss
Mary Brisbane, Mrs. Eleanor
McEntire.
Mrs. McEntire said, “We are
now sewing for the children at
the Village of St. Joseph. This
year we have made over 140
garments including girls dresses,
slips, boys shirts, girls and boys
pajamas, shorts and blouses.
“Miss Brisbane has made 144
baby garments for the clinic at
St. Joseph’s Infirmary. If any
ladies would like to join us, we
would be glad to have them.”
Col. Herbert E. Drake, pastor
president of the Reserve Officers
Association, Department of
Georgia, spoke to the cadets. The
ceremony ended with the wing
passing in review.
