Editor Is Stupid,
Perverted, He Says
Editor:
The local papers carried
your bit about your
newspaper chiding the
Vatican for barring mini
skirts and hot pants and other
decolletage from St. Peter’s
Basilica, with these words:
“Christ is not offended by
bare skin, for He brought
Adam and Eve into the world
in the shortest attire of all,
none.”
This is a stupid thing for
any Catholic paper to
publish. No, God is not
offended by bare skin, but
there is such a thing as
modesty. If this be the case,
that God is not offended by
bare skin, then I suppose
whoever wrote the article
would sanction topless ladies
and girls in church, or even
nudes. How ridiculous, how
stupid, what a perverted
mind.
Here we are trying to teach
- instill modesty in general,
not to mention proper
respect for and in the House
of God, and then you people
come out with this shameful -
disgusting remarks.
I hope your archbishop
has more sense than to let
this go by without some sort
of a censure and apology
from your press.

3rd Army Chaplain
“What is done under the
Modern Volunteer Army
program in the next few years
will shape the character,
efficiency and morale of the
U.S. Army for years to
come,” according to Chaplain
(Col.) Leonard F.o Stegman,
the newly-assigned Third
U.A. Army chaplain.

the past year as staff chaplain
for the U.S. Army, Vietnam.
He reports that while in
Southeast Asia he became
deeply involved in
communications, human
relations, and the drug
problem as they relate to the
soldier. He intends to
emphasize these aspects in
the Third Army area.
Chaplain Stegnan a direct

two Silver Stars, two awards
of the Legion of Merit, the

Banns Of What
Announced?
ROXBURY, Mass. (NC) -
A parish pastor engaged
Father Joseph E. Manton of
the Mission Church Basilica
here, a Redemptorist
preacher who has long been a
strong defender of priestly
celibacy, to give a series of
sermons during Marian Week.
The pastor scribbled out a
notice for his parish bulletin
announcing the appearance of
the well-known priest who
has spoken on national radio
and television. Apparently
someone had trouble
deciphering the pastor’s
handwriting, because the
announcement came out this
way in the bulletin:
“Banns of
Joseph Manton
Weeks.”
