AID FOR AGED
WITH EMPHYSEMA
Sufferers with emphysema,
asthma, bronchitis and other
respiratory problems are
often told by their physicians
to use a program of
respiratory therapy - usually
the use of a respirator at
home. That used to mean an
investment in the purchase of
a respirator or the rental of
one with monthly payments
that go on and on.
Now, Complete Breathing
Care, serving Florida for over
10 years, provides a way for
senior citizens and others
who are disabled with
respiratory problems to
obtain a respirator and
complete service, including
oxygen if needed, at no cost
to them!
Complete Breathing Care’s
certified inhalation therapist
will contact your physician to
discuss your respiratory
problem and therapy needs.
The cost is covered through
direct billing by Complete
Breathing Care to Medicare or
Champus or other insurance.
All you need to do is call
or write, (name, address,
phone number and doctor’s
name) Complete Breathing
Care in the Atlanta area,

NO ONE UNDER It
he brings the Christian story
to life once again. The results
he has achieved are
remarkable.
The films, being shown at
Immaculate Heart of Mary
parish, depict Mary as a
young girl through the early
years in the life of Christ.
On Wednesday, February
16, the next segment will be
shown. All are invited, and
admission is free.
If you are a night person
and NOT a morning person,
there is a decided
disadvantage to being a
country pastor. But
sometimes the early morning
surprises you (very seldom,
but sometimes!). In Hartwell
this night person has to be up
and jumping by 6 a.m. on a
Sunday morning in order to
be fully alive and awake at 8
a.m. for the Eucharist (I’ve
always been overjoyed that
the first Eucharist was at
night!!). And the surprise is
this: a week or so ago on one
of the Greenville, South
Carolina, radio stations there
was a program about saving
the small town.
The program centered on
the Institute on Man and
Science and its decision to no
longer tell small towns what
to do to build an
environment for man, but to
actually do it. So, they
incorporated and bought a
small town in the old coal
mining regions of
Pennsylvania for $150,000.
The town included about
100 homes, a water system,
and about 100 acres. The
Institute then met with the
residents (who rented their
homes at the time of
purchase) and set up a whole
master plan for their town,
including a new water system,
paving streets and sidewalks,
rebuilding the old
“company” homes, and
eventually buying the homes
from the Corporation they
had formed. With little or no
help from an outside
contractor, the people
themselves put in a new water
system, began rebuilding their
homes, and also began buying
their own homes for
minimum monthly payments.
What brings all this to
print in our newspaper is this:
the work of the Campaign for
Human Development
sponsored by the United
States Catholic Conference.
Throughout the United States
similar projects have been
initiated and have been
partially funded by the
Campaign, and with Jesus’
constant emphasis on the
reality of Justice, our efforts
as Catholic Christians need to
be pointed out more often.
And closer to home there
is the little corporation in
Lumpkin County in and
around Dahlonega called
“Help In Housing, Inc.” It’s a
small company that seeks to
build adequate housing for
those who could not afford
it. And it seeks to do this
work in the name not of the
dollar but of Jesus the Christ.
Two men spend their lives
and their talents leading
others to help. Brother Paul
and Brother Terry are
Glenmary brothers who
won’t quit, and. all in the
name of the Lord. A
Jesus-Sign to our values . . .
As Americans we have
always been aware of the
importance of a “place,” a
place to call our own. With
the severe cold of this winter
we become more and more
aware of the needs in housing
as well. And we best be aware
that the compassion that
Jesus had on the hungry
multitude is also a
compassion His Body must
have in 1977 for the
ill-housed.
NOTE OF THANKS: To
all of you who have sent
prayer, thought, spoken to
the Lord, been present at
Holy Family Church on
Hilton Head, South Carolina,
the Horan family gives thanks
to you and the Risen Lord
for you. God’s power and
your love are drying the tears,
pushing away the clouds, and
filling us with the Son of
Hope. Stay with us at the
Eucharistic table, proclaiming
the death of the Lord until
He comes!
