ROLL IT — Archbishop
Thomas A. Donnellan is helping to
spread the good news about the
100th anniversary of Saint
Joseph’s Hospital. WSB-TV filmed
a public service announcement
earlier this spring as part of
Atlanta’s oldest hospital’s
Centennial celebration. Other
events at Saint Joseph’s include a
nostalgia luncheon, road race,
open house at the Sisters of Mercy
Convent and a special Mass
celebrated by the Archbishop at
the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Double Celebration
Rev. Raymond
Schantz, C.Ss.R., pastor of
St. Gerard’s Catholic
Church in Fort Oglethorpe
and his associate Rev.
John Jerlinski, C.Ss.R.,
will celebrate together
their 65 years as priests.
Father Jerlinski will be a
priest 35 years and Father
Schantz, 30 years.
Father Schantz is a
native of Rochester, New
York and has spent most
of his priestly life in the
southern states. Father
Jerlinski is a native of
Hackensack, New Jersey
and has also labored as a
priest in the southern
states.
The two priests were
assigned to St. Gerard’s in
February, 1978. Since
then, there has been a
steady growth in the
parish. Recently, a
building program was
completed and a new
rectory was built next to
the little white country
church on Highway 27. A
social hall was completed
at the end of 1979 with 6
classrooms for religious
education.
The two priests are also
in charge of the Mission of
St. Jude, LaFayette,
Georgia, which has grown
considerably in the past
two years.
Fathers Schantz and
Jerlinski are members of
the Redemptorist
Missionary Order with
headquarters in New
Smyrna Beach, Florida.
The anniversary Mass
was celebrated on Sunday,
June 15th at 10:30 A.M.
in St. Gerard’s Church.
Music was provided by the
youth choir. A special
covered dish supper was
held for the parishioners in
the social hall.
Special guests at the
celebration were the
mother and two sisters of
Father Jerlinski.

TOMB OF CHRIST
Mausoleums are memorials built for the ages and endure forever-
Above ground entombment has been the chosen way of burial for
people of all faiths since the early Christian era and in earlier ancient
times too.
Famous examples include London’s Westminster Abby- tomb of
English Royalty surrounding the Shrine of Edward the Confessor.
Many kings and queens are entombed in the Chapel of Henry the
Seventh. Westminster Abby is crowded with tombs and memorials of
famous British subjects, too.
When completed, this
beautiful and inspiring chapel
will always be available for
memorial services or quiet
meditation. Its warm dignified
surroundings of imported
marble, rich wood paneling
and thick carpets will be softly
lighted to create a friendly and
sympathetic atmosphere for
visiting family and friends.
ALL PREPARED BEFORE NEED
Included in the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World were many
memorials, all prepared in Advance of need. NOW, is the time to
make preparations for the eternal care of your family in Arlington’s
modern mausoleum, built for the ages.
