Un Buena
Matrimonio
matrimonio.
Y cuantas veces relegamos nuestro matrimonio a un
segundo piano. Cuantas veces la damos mas importancia a
nuestros compromises y responsabilidades a costa de
nuestro matrimonio? Pensamos que tenemos un buen
matrimonio.
No te pesara.

Campers To March
In July 4 Parade
WSB-TV’s Fourth of July parade this year will feature
children from the archdiocesan summer camp program as
part of its focus on Atlanta neighborhoods.
“Atlanta has been receiving such a terrible press. People
are afraid to come here,” said Kim Edmonds, who helps
coordinate WSB’s special projects division. “We are trying
to say that Atlanta is a fine place with fine neighborhoods
where people are working together!”
The Camp Promise contingent from St. Paul of the Cross
Church in northwest Atlanta will march with their
neighbors from Marietta and Smyrna, St. Anthony’s
campers will be marching with their friends from
Dunwoody and Roswell, and children from Ss. Peter and
Paul’s camp will keep in step with residents of northeast
Atlanta neighborhoods, Dunwoody, and Sandy Springs.

Anniversary Picnic
Rain didn’t dampen the spirits of St. Thomas the
Apostle parishioners and guests in Smyrna during the
parish’s 15 Anniversary picnic celebration held June 13.
A full day of good food, contests, games, entertainment
and socializing was highlighted by an evening folk Mass
held outdoors.
One of the special events was a “legs contest” with
both male and female entrants. Theresa Schlink won first
place among the ladies ; and, getting into the spirit of the
occasion, Fr. Vic Chaupetta, Assistant pastor, entered
the contest and found himself taking first place honors
among the men. Proceeds of the contest were donated by
its sponsors, the Young Adults Club, toward the
purchase of new carpeting for the parish center.
Excellent entertainment was provided by Choo-Choo
the Clown and his assistant Stripey, the Cosmic Guesser,
Mr. Twinkie, and representatives of the Hamilton
Nautilus Fitness and Karate Center, whose
demonstrations of the art of self-defense were enjoyed
by both children and adults. Music was provided by John
Delves and Frank Lillig.
The E.G. Spencer family took home the grand prize -
a remote-control, portable color television.
The entire day’s festivities were coordinated by Bob
and Marie Burke, with the cooperation and hard work of
many parish members, making for a most successful and
enjoyable day.
The Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education has
recently appointed Mrs. Dolores Waters as full-time
Consultant in Youth Ministry.
Mrs. Waters, a member of Our Lady of the
Assumption Church in Atlanta, will be actively involved
in the formation and training of volunteer catechists in
all parishes.
She will also focus on promoting a total approach to
youth ministry within the archdiocese.
Active in ministry to young people for many years,
Mrs. Waters began as a volunteer in the catechetical
program at her home parish. She later served as pastoral
associate and youth minister at Ss. Peter and Paul Church
in Decatur and as director of religious education and
youth minister at Holy Cross Church in Chamblee. She is
presently studying for her Masters in Theological Studies
at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.
Mrs. Waters and the staff at the Office of Religious
Education are already planning activities for the 1981-82
catechetical year. Area workshops will be held from
September through December for all catechists. Next
January, John Roberto, a forerunner in the field of
youth ministry, will hold a workshop for parish youth
leadership. In April, Father Don Kimball will lead a
youth rally for the archdiocese.
Mrs. Waters is presently planning the establishment of
a Youth Advisory Board, composed of teenagers and
young adults, which will communicate needs of the
young to the archdiocesan office and work with the staff
to develop peer ministry among teenagers and young
adults.
“I do not choose to minister in isolation,” said Mrs.
Waters in her office at the Catholic Center on West
Peachtree Street. “I look upon myself as an enabler and
an advocate, encouraging others to use their talents to
build up the body of the Church.”

CHOO-CHOO THE CLOWN delights the
children with magic and laughter at St. Thomas
the Apostle’s summer picnic. At the end of
happy day, Father Vic Chaupetta, M.S.
celebrates Mass on the parish grounds.
Mrs. Ruby
