25 Years With The Marists
On February 2, 1982, Reverend Andrew G.
McCormack, S.M. celebrated the 25th anniversary of his
ordination to the priesthood. The Marist priest was
ordained on February 2, 1957 at the Shrine of the
Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
Fr. McCormack has recently been appointed to the new
position of Campus Minister at Marist School. After
leaving Marist in the early sixties for other teaching
assignments, he returned in 1978 as a member of the
faculty. “It’s a wonderful thing to happen after
twenty-five years,” commented Fr. McCormack on his
new post. “I’ve enjoyed teaching a great deal, but I think
that our students and parents should have someone
immediately available for spiritual guidance.”
On February 7, Fr. McCormack celebrated Mass with
his fellow Marists, several diocesan priests, his family, and
friends. Following the Mass, a dinner was held at which
Archbishop Donnellan was in attendance. “I am most
grateful fbr my friendship with the archbishop and my
fellow diocesan priests,” commented Fr. McCormack.
THE LEADERS OF THE FUTURE turned out
in style at St. Anthony’s School for a special
Career Day. It looks like the second grade
students pictured above, who dressed in the attire
of their career choice, are happily looking
forward to what lies ahead in their chosen
professions.

When I Grow Up...
Black history month was celebrated in style by students
at St. Anthony’s School in southwest Atlanta. On one
special day during the month, parents and students were
invited to participate in a Career Day, during which
students dressed as their career choice. Parents and
community members were asked to come to the school
and share their career stories with the students.
Dropping in for the special events were Thomas Odum,
whose daughter Tomika attends St. Anthony’s
kindergarten, and editorial writer Ralph Wright, who
addressed the fourth grade class.
All students, in grades kindergarten through eight,
participated in Career Day and found it to be a good way
to reflect on future choices!
