GOD, Father Powell says that we seem to persistently

Footprints"
St. Williams —
(Continued from page 1)
Marist School in 1942 and preached his first sermon in St.
Joseph’s Church in Marietta, found it “a joy to come to
St. Simon’s.”
The hospitable priest estimated that there are about
300 people on the parish list, but more accurately a total
of 600 Catholics who now attend St. William’s, plus, of
course, “a tremendous number of visitors.”
Father Barrett has had a long and .varied tenure in the
Marist community, including a term as provincial for the
order in Washington, D.C. After a year and a half on St.
Simons, his future plans call for a move to the African
missions.
It’s not that he doesn’t like the island, mind you. “It’s
so nice I feel uncomfortable,” he admitted with a twinkle
in his eye.
For all those seeking the peaceful comfort that St.
Simons promises, be sure to stop at St. William’s for a
sense of the island’s unique Catholic history.
Daily Mass is celebrated at 8:15 a.m.; Saturday evening
Mass at 5:35 p.m.; and Sunday Masses at 8 and 10:30
a.m., 6 p.m.
The Atlanta
Archdiocesan Council of

its annual Leadership Day
June 10 at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church,

The theme of the day,
which will begin with

‘‘Footprints to the
Future.” Workshops
conducted by council
committees will focus on
making a commitment in
various areas of a woman’s
life and how that
commitment is an
extension of one’s faith
development.
Workshops will begin at
10:15 a.m. and each
workshop will be given
twice during this time.
Mass will be celebrated at
11:40 a.m., followed by
lunch. A special Family
Affairs workshop, “Who’s
Stepping on Our Toes,”
will be held at 12:50 p.m.
The day will end around 2
p.m. after a question/dis-
cussion session with all
workshop leaders.

state. Certificates of merit are also provided for
top-scoring students on each level.
St. Anthony’s received word that their seventh graders
scored highest in the state and will be receiving a class
plaque. Tammy Dominick also wilt receive a plaque for
having the highest individual score in the state. Audris
Tillman, Marc Mays and Kamela Dykes tied for fourth,
eighth and seventeenth places respectively. The eighth
