death of his mother, Dorothy, who died August 20. Mrs.
Poandl’s funeral was held August 23 in New Jersey.
ST. BERNADETTE’S CHURCH in Cedartown will
commemorate the feast of the Birth of Mary with a
special Hispanic celebration for the whole parish. Father
Bill Hoffman of the Archdiocesan Hispanic Apostolate
will celebrate a Spanish language Mass at 7 p.m. Sept. 8.
Following the liturgy, a pot luck dinner will be served,
complete with Spanish music. For information, call the

EPIPHANY BYZANTINE CATHOLIC CHURCH,
2030 Old Alabama Rd. in Roswell, will hold its annual
Heritage Day Sat. Sept. 24 from 2-10 p.m. on the church
grounds (off Holcomb Bridge Rd.). All are invited to
experience the ethnic heritage of Byzantine Catholics
from Eastern Europe, including Slavic foods, music, and
entertainment. A live polka band will play from 6-10 p.m.

THE ARCHDIOCESAN COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC
WOMEN will hold its 27th annual convention Sept. 23-24
at the Lanier Plaza Hotel, 418 Armour Dr. NE, Atlanta
(1-85 and Monroe Dr.) Keynote speaker will be Msgr.
George A. Kelly, a faculty member at St. John’s
University in New York. Mrs. Jean Hayes, second
vice-president of the National Council of Catholic Women,
will also be a guest speaker. Theme of the convention is

A SMALL TOWN MINISTRY WORKSHOP has
again been scheduled for this Fall. The one-day
event will allow seasoned rural ministers to share
