A fellow from the mountains was telling his co-workers about a
forthcoming trip back to his native state. He said, “Martha and me are
repairin’ to go on a little vacation.”
A fellow worker interrupted, “You mean you’re preparing to go on a
trip - not repairing. To repair means to fix.”
“That’s what I said,” retorted the mountaineer. “We’re fixin’ to go.”

information, and referrals to Atlanta adults who are in
need of upgrading skills, changing careers, or re-entering
the job market. It is located in the Professional Concourse

ATLANTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will have a
volunteer orientation program to take place Sunday,
September 16 from 2-5 or Monday the 17th from 9-12

CALLANWOLDE FINE ARTS CENTER is now taking
registration for fall classes in the fine arts. Over 60 course
offerings are available including dance, drama, music,

Singles from throughout the archdiocese are invited to
a RIVERBOAT DANCE Friday evening, Sept. 7 on the
Stone Mountain riverboat. The boat will be leaving the
Lakeside Center at 8:15 p.m. with a band aboard for
dancing. There will be a cash bar and snacks. The dance is
sponsored by the Corpus Christi SWORD group and

The CHATTAHOOCHEE INVITATIONAL CUP
tournament to benefit the Leukemia Society will host a
benefit tournament on Sat., Sept. 8 with an exhibition
match at 2 p.m. at the Atlanta Polo Club Field on
Columns Dr. where Johnson Ferry Road crosses the
Chattahoochee River. Tournament action begins on
Sunday with matches scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m. For

STEPCHILDREN’S WORKSHOP: There will be a
special workshop filled with activity for children (ages
10-16) whose parent(s) are remarried or remarrying. It
will be held at the Catholic Center on Saturday, Aug. 25
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $10 per child; $8 each
