Sacred Heart Of bulletin brief LEARNING ABOUT THE LORD: Jesus Hartwell Sister often told her class about the good work of missionaries. One day she told of an African native who broke his arm and was taken to a mission hospital run by nuns. There for the first time he learned about Jesus and the Christian faith. In time he returned home but wanted to know more about Jesus. Sister asked: “How could he leam more about Jesus?” One bright fellow offered this suggestion: “He could break his other arm.” (Editor’s Note: We will run any clips from "your" bulletin, printing a new one each week.) St. Thomas More Catholic School, 624 West Ponce De Leon Avenue, Decatur, will sponsor an AUCTION on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. TV personality John Patrick will serve as the official auctioneer. Over 150 items will be up for bid, including skis, an exercise bike, a mink stole, handcrafted items, jewelry and many valuable services. Viewing begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $2.50 per person. Pace Ferry 4 Roswell at Buckheao - CHRISTMAS WORKSHOPS PLANNED AT THE ATLANTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY “Make a Look-Alike Gingerbread House,” Children’s Workshop: In this workshop, children 7 years of age and up will use a variety of foods and candies to make a miniature house similar to a gingerbread house prized by the young and old. The workshop is set for December 15th from 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Children-will learn about the types of mortar, fireplace placement and roof materials of original log homes. The cost of the workshop is $5.00 for members’ children, $6.00 for non-members’ children. Registration with fee is due December 7th and refunds cannot be made after that date. “Old-Fashioned Holiday Decorations,” Family Workshop: A holiday workshop for the entire family will be held on December 8th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Children can make a variety of holiday ornaments and favors, including yam doll ornaments, cornucopia and fan ornaments, and holiday snapper party favors. Teenagers and adults in the family will be able to choose one activity from several that will be offered. Woodworking and wreath-making will also be included. Adults participating in the workshop must specify the activity they are interested in working on. Cost of the workshop is $10.00 for members and $5.00 for members’children; $12.00 for non-members and $7.00 for non-members’ children. Registration with fee is due November 26th and refunds cannot be given after the date.
