Scouts Collect
Canned Goods
Boy Scouts in the Atlanta Area Council, as part of their
celebration of Boy Scout Anniversary Week, will collect
canned food items, Saturday, Feb. 11.
Called “Scouting For Food,” the boys will cover a
13-county area in the hope of collecting 50 tons of canned
food for distribution to the needy in local neighborhoods.
February 5-11 is set aside as Boy Scout Anniversary Week
commemorating the founding of scouting in 1910. The
Atlanta Area Council serves over 51,000 young people in its
scouting programs.
While continuing to emphasize character development,
citizenship training and personal fitness, today’s scouting
program also includes teaching youth about substance
abuse, about illiteracy, and helping the homeless and
hungry.
A REMARRIAGE WORKSHOP for engaged couples
preparing for a second marriage will be held at the Catholic
Center, Sat., Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of the
workshop is $45. Focus will be on the four stages for a good
remarriage, problem-solving skills, and stepparenting tips.

Magazine and noted educator, will speak Thurs., Jan. 26 at

Alston Lecture series. The lecture topic will be “Envision
