Atlanta hosts a JOB NETWORK each Tuesday in room
11 of the school of religion, beginning at 8 p.m. The
network is open to all who need assistance in a job search.
The Aspect Foundation is looking for CATHOLIC
HOST FAMILIES for foreign students wishing to spend
a school year living with an American family and attend
ing the local high school. For more information, interested

A HOLY HOUR TO CELEBRATE LIFE will be
held Fri., Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at St. John the
Evangelist Church in Hapeville. All are welcome.

The Atlanta Worldwide Marriage Encounter
Community will host a FAMILY PICNIC, Aug. 12
from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at shelter No. 14 in Murphy
Candler Park. Fee is $3.50 per family. Families
should provide their own picnic and a dish to share
with others. Each dish will be judged by local
Marriage Encounter “professional gourmet chefs.”

All are invited to a SPECIAL SERVICE FOR
PEACE, Sun., Aug. 5 beginning at 2 p.m. at the
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 48 Martin
Luther King, Jr. Drive in downtown Atlanta. The
service will commemorate the atomic bombing of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Food will be
shared in the church hall starting at 1 p.m. fol
lowed by the worship service.
The Metropolitan Atlanta chapter of the American Red
Cross is seeking experienced knitters and people who
crochet to volunteer to make such items as sweaters, caps
and baby clothing to be given disaster victims. For

St. Anthony’s Church, 928 Gordon St in south
west Atlanta, is sponsoring a BUS SHOPPING
TRIP to Boaz, Ala., Sat., Aug. 18. Cost is $20 and
will benefit the parish outreach ministry to Cascade
House. The bus will leave St. Anthony’s at 7:30
a.m. and Boaz at 4:30 p.m. CST. For more informa

Holy Family LAY CARMELITE COMMUNITY meets
the first Monday of each month after the 6:45 p.m. Mass
and the third Saturday of the month after the 9 a.m. Mass.
Persons interested in the Third Order of Our Lady of Mt.

St. Joseph’s Hospital will sponsor “WOMEN’S
HEALTH DAY, 1990” on Sat., Sept. 22 at the Hyatt
Regency Ravinia in north Atlanta. Physical health, family
relationships and personal issues will be the focus of
workshops. Registration of $35 includes lunch, refresh
ments and resource materials. The event will be from 9:30

PAX CHRISTI, Latin for the peace of Christ, is an
international Catholic lay movement focusing on Jesus’
call, “blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called
the children of God.” The group tries to promote peace
among nations and individuals. Pax Christi Atlanta meets

Knights of Columbus, Marietta Council, will be held
