The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus,
Council 4358, will sponsor a SNACK AND DESSERT
CARD PARTY, Sun., Sept. 9 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Tickets
are $2.50 per person. Free refreshments will be served and
a door prize awarded. All card games and board games
will be available. Groups from retirement homes are

THE FIRST FRIDAY CLUB OF ATLANTA will meet
Fri. r Sept. 7 for recitation of the rosary at 11:55 a.m.
followed by Mass and a luncheon at Sacred Heart Church,
353 Peachtree St. in downtown Atlanta. Men of the
archdiocese are invited.
A Mass in honor of the SACRED HEART OF
JESUS will be celebrated at the Monastery of the
Visitation on First Friday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Training sessions for volunteers of the WIDOWED
PERSONS SERVICE of Life Enrichment Services will be
held Sept. 10 through 14 at the Mack Love Senior Center,
1340 McConnell Drive in Decatur. There is no charge for
the classes which will be offered twice each day from 9
a.m. to noon and from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Persons who
have been widowed two years or more are eligible for the
training which prepares them to help newly widowed to
adjust to a new life. Anyone interested in attending the

A support group for RECOVERING STROKE VIC
TIMS is held the first Saturday of every month at 1:30
p.m. at the DeKalb Wellness Center on Bill Thrasher
Road behind DeKalb General Hospital. For more informa

Greer Gordon, director of the Office for Black Catholics
in the Boston archdiocese, will be the keynote speaker for
the Atlanta archdiocesan CATECHETICAL INSTITUTE
Sept. 28 and 29 at St. Ann’s parish in Marietta. For

St. Philip Benizi parish in Jonesboro will cele
brate its 25TH ANNIVERSARY with a concelebrat-
ed Mass at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25. Bishop James Lyke,
OFM, will be the principal celebrant. Friends and

ADULT LIPREADING communication classes will be
conducted for people with a hearing loss at the Auditory
Education Center, a non-profit organization located at

The Mass for the 21st Sunday of Ordinary Time
will be celebrated by Father Salvatore Riccardi, CP.
The Mass for the 22nd Sunday of Ordinary Time
will be celebrated by Father Jerome Vereb, CP. The
program is produced by Passionist Communications.

RETROUVAILLE/REDISCOVERY, a program
offering help to any couple experiencing hurt, pain
or loneliness in their marriage, will begin a series
the weekend of Sept. 14-16. Emphasis is on forgive
ness and healing, and rediscovering one another

The annual Sunshine State RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
CONFERENCE for directors of religious education and
other professionals in the field of catechesis will be held
Oct. 25-27 at the Altamonte Springs Hilton in Altamonte,
Fla., a suburb of Orlando. The theme of the conference
will be “Shaped by the Spirit: Maturing in Faith and

North Atlanta Senior Services, (NASS), will open the
doors of its DAY CLUB in September on Tuesday
afternoons from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian
Church, 3003 Howell Mill Road in Atlanta. In conjunction
with the regular NASS Lunch ’n Learn program, rotating
in location among Buckhead churches, the Day Club will
also be held each Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
