There was hardly a second in the basketball game where we weren’t cheering. What re sults did it have? We won! I asked several members of the basketball team what they thought of our spirit. Many said without the help of us they may have lost. I asked John Higginbotham what he thought of the spirit at the past few games and he replied: “We’ll put it this way, nothing makes me play better when spirit is helping me. The students are reallygreat.’’ The same question went to Richard Johnson: He replied that, “MGC has really changed this year,” its girls, good times, and most of all, spirit. I really feel like playing my best when all our fans give us a cheer. We’ve got a good team and we are going to make it better.” Spirit makes the game more exciting, especially when the game is close (80-81). If by chance you haven’t seen the light, basketball is fun to watch. The stands were packed Homecoming night with students watching the Warriors rollover Norman Park. Spirit was in the air waiting for the crowning of the Queen. What proof does anyone need? Spirit promotes happiness and a winning sea son in basketball. The cheer leaders are really happy that everyone is helping them this year. Thea Lane McKendree replied “Nothing makes me feel better than to seeeveryone yell ing at the ballgames especially when John makes a basket. Spi rit is like a gift to us and the Warriors.” Dean Reeves, commented by saying, “The students really should be commended this year. They are really doing a great job ... tell them to keep it up.” Facts are facts, and they are here. As shown by our past few games and the quotes above, spirit helps lead the Warriors to victory. For all of you maybe that haven’t been to a game yet for some reason, well, I already know your reason -- they don’t cost anything if you own a Mid dle Georgia I.D. Oh, yes, there are a few who think we don’t have a team. To set you strai ght, we do. The cheerleaders not only need your help, but the basketball team also. If we are going to change this school to a place really worth going to let’s first change the spirit! By: Kenneth Fields This is an interview with a drug abuser whose name and identity remains unknown to the writer of this article. This drug abuser was chosen from a number of Middle Georgia Col lege students who were drug abusers; all of them remain anonymous. The drug abuser picked tor this interview was chosen be cause he is the oldest, he has been taking drugs longer, and he has taken more “hard” drugs than any of the others. Kernel - Do you take drugs? Da - Not any more. Kernel - When was the last time you took any illegal drugs? Da - It has been three months since I did any. Kernel - How long had you been illegal drugs before you quit? Da - I had been doing drugs of many types for about three years. Kernel - What forms of drugs have you taken? Da . Well, I have done weed (marijuana), speed (ampheia- mines), Acid (lED) mescuhne (a stimulant derrived from the peyote, mesculine, and cocaine) and opium. Kernel - Which type drug did you take first? Da - I did weed first because all the papers said it was ag ainst the law, and I guess my curiosity got the best of me. I always associated with the guys who did dope and one night a guy passed me a joint and I took it. Kernel - Are there any bad ef fects of Marijuana? Da - Yes, you see grass causes users to come in contact with pushers who sell “hard” drugs, like acid. If you have enough curiosity to do weed, usually you have enough to do the whole thing. Kernel - Is there something wrong with taking al! kinds of drugs? Da - Man, you know acid messes up your babies. If you don’t want any, that is fine. If you do too much dope it takes away HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO OUR FAVORIATE J CUSTOMERS I The Middle Georgia i College Co-eds!! | home of | VILLAGER I JOHN ROMAIN | LONDON FOG ; PEERLESS j SPORT SWUARj OENISE | MISS AMERICA | iastman,ga ( I ( your home away from home ) GODFREY’S SHOE: U. Over night it can change your taste in music from “soul” to “hard rock.” Kernel - Why did you take drugs? Da - Man, everybody turns on. Some people drink, some do sex, and still others kill. For me dope was just another way to turn-on. Kernel - Why did you quit? Da - I don’t know. Pant Suits Vs. Dress Code By: Tommy Tillery Women’s Liberation is older than some people think. One of its patron saints was a deter mined suffragette called Ame lia Bloomer who, in 1851, shocKed America by wearing pants as a symbol of her lib eration. Today, women have reasons for wearing pants, but the main reason pertains to comfort and weather. As usual, the times have changed. The main fashion cen ters of New York City featuring the very latest in women’s clothing have announced that pants suits will be the top in sales for the coming season. The long cold winter days arc approaching, and these suits will keep the wearer warm, comfortable, and neail' dressed. One of the main issues here at Middle Georgia College has been whether or not the gif- should be permitted to wea: them.
