Dear Janet and Sarah:
Ten years ago today, we graduated, though
it seems only a short while since then. I am
working along with Georgie, at David T. How
ard. Remember our saying that we would
compare notes on the activities of our class
mates at the end of ten years? Well. I have
found that many have taken surprising turns
in their vocations and avocations.
On Spelman’s Campus one finds quite a large
number of the graduates of ’50: Wilma Anderson
is in charge of Spelman nursery, Vivian Baker
is assistant director of the Glee Club. Grace
Diggs is conductor of the orchestra, and Louise
Johnson is gym instructor. Leaving the campus,
Mary Ball is Director of Religious Education at
Morris Brown College. Lillian Canady is sole
owner of the Herndon Day Nursery. Jane
Hunter and Jacqueleine Creed are on the staff
at the State Hospital for the Insane. Alma
Blanton has won recognition for herself as being
the only woman player with the B. D. (Brooklyn
Dodgers). Lillian Carter is a house mother at
Palmer Memorial Institute. Rosa Hendrick is
there also, as clothing instructor. Dorothy
Collins and Violet Higginbotham are owners
of the ‘"Learn to Dance In a Day* studio and
are really prospering. Eddye Champion and
Atloise Chenault are both nationally known
dramatists. Muriel Corrin is a nationally known
model now as a result of having won first place
in the Jersey City Bathing Beauty Contest. PZlise
Eortson is touring France after having received
the Ph.D. degree. Eunice Goss is Editor-in-Chief
of the New York Times and has just commented
on the hook, “Easv Does It by Velma Graham.
Margaret Grant sings on C.B.S. at two P.M.
I E.S.T. I each Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Hester Hall is a valuable member of the All-
American Debating Team. Sadye Harris is in
complete charge of Harris Memorial Hospital
and is also an efficient wife and mother. Jonnie
Hill is head dietician at Grady Hospital. Dorothy
Johnson has a chain of stores and employs
Dorothy Little in the Sports Department, Eldora
Love in the Children’s Department, and Johnnie
Lumpkin as consultant in decorations. Agatha
and Dolores Jones are in Spain and Elizabeth
Lee is now the wife of Dr. R. O. (lathings and is
1 i\ ing in Cedartown with two Cadillacs in her
garage.
What news do you have? We await your
letter with much anticipation.
Affectionately,
MARY AND GEORGIE.

Wear Georgie and Mary:
We were extremely pleased to receive news
of our old classmates after all these years. We
have seen many of the girls from time to time
and have received letters from others. We ran
into each other in Paris last month and we are
now at Sarah’s home for a few days. We saw
Dr. Littlejohn and Clenmiie yesterday and both
send their love.
We are still in the English Department at
the University of Paris and are enjoying it
immensely. Had a letter from Maxine Wilson
—a Mrs. now. Remember the successful young
dentist?—he’s the one. She tells us that she
saw Leona Reddick and Helen Marshall and
they are working for John Robert Powers at
his New York Agency. She writes also that
Virginia Moreland has just completed her third
book which is entitled “The Upper Hand . It
has possibilities of becoming a best seller. Re
ceived a letter from Ethel Minor who is still in
old Atlanta listening with Edwin to the pitter
patter of five pairs of little feet. She wrote that
Martha Robinson and Maurice Mitchell are
both working in the Registrar’s Office at dear
old Spelman, that Anna Whittaker is Dean now
and Pauline Riley is dietitian. Evelyn Starks
has taken Mr. James’ place in the Music Depart
ment, and Martha Swinton is dance instructor
at Fisk University.
Verna Turner, who is head of the Home
Economics Department at Washington High
School in Atlanta, writes that Clarice Wyatt
is running a successful Date Bureau and Cath
erine Southerland is in her prime as a math
teacher at Morehouse. Doroth) Micklebury has
a very unique position—she's working at the
Simmons Mattress and Spring Company as
chief tester. Anna Maxwell is an artist of no
little repute.
Florine Parker is still in Japan and we know
she is invaluable to Carter as a Nurse's Aide.
Dorothy Zellner is a housewife and mother of
four sons, and Jeralyn Young is head of Historv
Department at Cornell l niversity.
Great things have come out of our class
and history has been made. It is our wish
that the class of 1950 will rise still higher in
its achievements. W rite ot us often and let
us know the news.
Sincerely,
JANET AND SARAH.
