Bell Don Graham Tilman Ward Daisy Duncan Dr. B. J. Farmer Let's Look Collegiate By Patsy E. Bell Welcome back to another year of stress and strain that’s required in order to get that piece of paper waiting for us at the end of the rainbow. There is also another rain bow that includes our everyday fashions. Every morning when we’re getting dressed for school we all have the same problems of what we’re going to wear and if This matches That. Well this is where I come in. I’m going to tune you in on the latest fashion gossip as I get it. I’m going to tell you how important it is to put our This and Thats together and make the outfit look real good. This year as we all know bright colors, crazy jewelry, silk scarfs, small purses, window pane stockings and the very low heel shoes are the things. All of these things are the latest and they really look fashionable on some of us. We all want to look good, but with the desire to keep in touch with the latest thing we sometimes forget ourselves and don’t always look as good as we intended to. The main thing on our minds is keeping up with the latest trend in fashion, but it isn’t always possible because every new fash ion can’t be worn by everybody so if you think, and you know it really doesn’t become you, just sit back and wait your turn because a new fashion is being made right now and who knows, maybe it’ll be just right for you. I’ve taken a man to man survey on different items to let you know what our men think and have to say about what we’re wearing and who should wear it .First I took the Window Pane Stockings and asked six (6) young men what they think of them and here’s what they said: 1. I think they should be worn under pants so they can't be seen. 2. These little bird leg girls should especially stay out of them because it looks like their legs are locked up in a cage. 3. I think they are nice on young ladies with nice size legs. 4. They draw too much attention to be so ugly. 5. They look like the latest thing from a Mad magazine instead of Glamour. 6. I think they’re O.K., providing they are worn with the right attire which in my opinion is the mini dress. Oh, well, girls, looks like the gentlemen just scratch the window panes off our list. So unless your legs are large enough and you’re wearing a mini dress, you had better stay away from them. Next I took the mini dress or skirt and here’s what I got. 1. I think they’re the best thing that could happen to a dress. 2. I think they’re nice if the legs aren’t big enough to spoil the view. 3. I think they look good on the small as well as large legged girls. 4. I think they are cuter on the thin legged girls be cause it gives them that Twiggy look. 5. Mini’s are great for all females, teachers as well as students. 6. I think if the teachers (females) would wear them they would get more attention and respect. Well, at least we got a break with the mini dress, so you had better take advantage of this chance. The last thing I asked about was, do you think young ladies look better with or without makeup and why? 1. I think they look great with it providing it isn’t too much. 2. I think the natural woman looks better any day without her war paint on. Hi, Everybody, HISTORY OF MBC —IN RHYME In January, Eighteen Eighty-one A grand idea for “growth” was born For the A. M. E. ’s envisioned dream Became a plan with a brilliant gleam, A new and a “higher” learning place Would a selected site embrace To give to those who should so desire A chance to greater goals aspire. Then four years later, and in May There come the long awaited day The school received its charter dear Which signaled “the time to teach is here.” This school was named for one renowned An A. M. E. Bishop, Morris Brown Who valiantly had fought the fight To establish the church for spiritual insight). This college, Liberal Arts design Influences, greatly, many a mind Theology, too, became a part of the institution from the start A change in name for one short span Became a part of MBC’s plan Only to have the name restored That originally was the one employed A program was planned to serve the Mass A normal school, a music class Fields such as law, religion too But, the “normal” was abolished in ‘thirty- two (1932) The Business School that merged therein Did very satisfactorily blend To give the students choices, “more” Than they had ever known before The school from her old site did move. In every way, it did improve. Next it was to affiliate with Atlanta University — That’s Great! And “grew” it did, and grow it will This college, resting on the hill Expanding here — expanding there Rated “Class A” — Its honor to share With those who passed its hallowed gate Physicians, Nurses, lawyers great Teachers, college professors, and more Have walked, and will walk, through M B’s door. —Sandra C. Smith How Freshman Feel About The Initiation Period C. B. — It's okay, but some try to be too nasty. L. L. — I like it. Kooky — Sometimes aggravating, sometimes all right. E. E. — I like it if it’s conducted in the right way. Y. F. — I believe in it, in order to be a full Brownite, if it’s in the right way. R, W. — That’s a very silly tradition. It simply shows a lack of confidence on the persons who pratice it. A. J. — To a point it’s all right, but when you take it too far students regret coming here. P. G. — It’s all right if not to the extreme. D, A. — It should have started and stopped at the end of orien tation week, S. S. — It’s all in fun. D. S. — It’s wonderful. T. W. — Good for adjustment. M. S. —Ugh! Y. L. — It’s all right, if it’s all 3. If some of them didn’t use it, I don’t see how I’d make it through the day. 4. I think with the eyes properly made up it makes them look very sexy. 5. Let’s face it, no girl is so beautiful that she can’t stand a little make up here and there. Well, Ladies, the fellows really had some answers for us on how we should look, so let’s be nice to them and start by taking heed to what they have said because after all, its important to us that we look good to them. I hope these opinions have cleared your mind as to whether you should wear This with That or use That with This. I really hope you will take under consideration what best becomes you and then center your fashion know-how around this and soon you w T ill be surprised how many fel lows will really compliment you on how nice you’re look ing, and when you’re looking nice they’re feeling better. So until next time when we have some of the ladies, opinions on what you men should wear to help your appear ance, this is Patsv saying, KEEP LOOKING" COLLEGI ATE! ! ! November, 1967 Marching Wolverines (Continued from Page 1) of the Marching Wolverines (from 25 to 115) in the past five years. This progress was made only through sacrifices made by each band member and all others involved. Almost every evening when everybody else has gone home you can find the band hard at work on the field, some times staying as late as 9:00 o’clock. During the lunch houi you also will find the band hard at work preparing for some game or other special perform ance. It sort of makes you won der if it is all worth it. Then things like the performances in the coaches All Star game, one of the Falcon-Redskins, games and now performing in one of the country’s largest parades in the country, remove all doubt about its having been worth it.
