Too See Not
By Amal Shama
How can it be, that people won’t
see
Why don’t they open their minds
and tree their thoughts.
If they could only see what
I’ve seen
And been where I’ve been, they
would know
What a deceivable shape the
world is in.
I have been so far out I could
look back in
I saw things stop before they
could begin
I viewed the world from every
angle
And saw lives and hopes, on a
thread they dangle.
I saw people go out in the light,
afraid, then darkness again.
Will people always be afraid of
the day
Never hearing what the “I’s” in
the world want to say?
Will it take thunder to awaken
you from this dream
And let you take your place as a
man among men?
Or is it destiny that we forever
Cast a Shadow in the Dark?

They Were Bad
The marching Wolverines took
the field at half-time of the Ten
nessee State - Morris Brown Foot
ball Game and . . . and . . . and
they were out of sight. The band
executed steps . . . and . . . and
that had the partisan Tennessee
crowd literally rolling in the |
aisle.
They were so together, so up
tight until the Big Blue Band was
hesitant about even taking the
field after M.B.C. had performed.
They can’t really be blamed be
cause what do you do for an en
core after the Purple Striders
have left the field. As an extra
added attraction Patricia Sales
blew minds left and right with her
melodic voice.
How can a band be so bad?
How can they be so cool, how can
they ....?’
It’s as much a mystery to me
as it is to you, but a hint can be
gotten from the calibre of leader
ship. They have such people as
Mr. Johnson, Mr. Revere, Mr.
Flournoy, Mrs. Jamie Dawson, O.
J. Harris, Joann Miller, “Spoteye”
and McDuffie. How can they lose
with the stuff they use,, or how
can they go wrong when they
play that song?
Spotlighting
Levi Golphin
By Craig Muckle
For the benefit of those who
don’t know him, Levi is the full
back (truck) on the football team.
He is the guy most of you see
diving and weaving his way
through the opposition for yard
age, He leads the team in rushing
yardage with well over 300 yards,
and without a doubt establishing
himself as one of the best in the
conference.
His teammates describes him as
being a ‘team man.’ Although
Levi is only a sophomore and still
learning, he contributes his suc
cess to offensive back coach Sam
Hill and hard work. He also con
siders this team as “one of the
greatest.”
Levi is a native of Augusta, Ga.,
where he attended the T. W. Josey
High School. He is majoring in
Business Administration and plans
someday to attend law school. He
enjoys reading and winning, and
says “winning is not everything
but the only thing.”
So right on Levi, keep on gain
ing those yards so we can keep
winning.
4 T Wonder”
By James Gardner
I WONDER how long must we
must wait, before a black
girl will win hte coveted crown of
“Miss America.”
I WONDER if MUHAMMAD ALI
(Cassius Clay) was a white man,
would he have been convicted
of a violation of the United
States draft law, for declaring
that he was a minister and that
the war was against his religion.
I WONDER when will the law of
the land give Justice, and not
depend upon whether you’re
rich or poor and whether you’re
yellow, black or white.
I WONDER how long will it take
before employers for all indus
tries become color blind, and
don’t yield but hire because of
skills.
I WONDER when these “Toms” in
high office will stop acting white
and give our people a voice.
I WONDER when the newspapers
will give equal coverage for all
schools instead of just for the se
lected few.
I WONDER when will the gov
ernment use better methods of
selecting and training of law
enforcement officers.
I WONDER how long will the
white man run before he real
izes that he will have to live
with blacks eventually.
I WONDER just when will the
government begin to “Really”
enforce anti-polution laws.
I WONDER when will the black
man be payed the same rate as
the white man for the same type
of pob.
I WONDER when will the U.S.
feed the starving people in Am
erica (First)?

To Eat or Not
By Lucy 4X Murphy
Leviticus 11:7-8 “Though he di-
videth the hoof and be cloven
footed, yet he cheweth not the
cud, he is useless to you. Of their
flesh shah ye not eat.” This is

Remember
When?
By James Gardner
When was the last timt you took
a walk, “at night,” to cool off
from a strenuous day’s work at
the office or from a hard day at
home. How long ... a week . . .
months . . . years? Is it because
you haven’t had the time? Or is
it because you are afraid? Afraid,
you say! It is a known fact that
people are scared to death to wan
der outside their homes! This was
not so common ten or even five
years ago. Crime is on a tremen
dous uproar . . . especially in the
BLACK COMMUNITY
Our black brothers and sisters
are steadily arming themselves, to
protect themselves, not from ra
cists, but from their OWN BLACK
BROTHERS T!here was a time
when blacks were watching out
for each other, now we’re only in
terested in raping, mugging and
downgrading. How are we going
to liberate the brother when we’re
losing our sense of unity!
Is it wise to ruin your life by
stealing a couple of dollars only
to be awarded an eternity in a
pig hole (prison)? Nothing is
really more demolishing than a
man or woman who can only sur
vive with DOPE TRAVELING
through their veins. Why should
we emancipate ourselves in Am
erica then only to put ourselves
in bondage under DOPE.
Maybe a remedy to the prob
lem could probably start with
equal justice and “prosecution”
for the black man as well as the
white.
Then again we need stricter
laws and penalties for dope push
ers and medical help for addicted
victims. Only when we can get
better law enforcement and
EQUAL JUSTICE can we ever
hope to have the days of peace
and tranquility and possible safer
streets. Don’t you miss those ev
ening walks?
referring to none other than the
filthy hog, the pig, the swine.
Khan means I see and zien means
fowl. “I see the foulest animal.”
In spite of this worning the Chris
tians are the largest consumers of
pork.
The hog eats nothing but F-I-L-
T-H. For starters he eats the ma
nure from other animals, wallows
in mud and when doing research
on this beast, it was found that
farmers often feed animals they
have found dead or that they kill
ed and have bbegun to stink to
the filthy hog. The pig can be
given lye; a snake, or a poisonous
snake can bite a hog and the hog
in turn will “eat the snake for a
high.”
Remember, “you are what you
ea.t” “The hog is the greediest
animal. He never knows or cares
to stop eating, as long as he sees
something to eat. He is the dumb
est animal. He keeps his nose
smelling and eyes looking for
something in the earth. You could
feed him all day long, and he
would never look up to see his
feeder.”
In the body, the hog takes the
form of a parasitic worm, trichina
or pork worm. At first the worms
are found in your stomach and
intestinal wall and then they
work their way through your en
tire system all they way into your
brain and heart.
“These worms cause the victim
to suffer with rheumatism, back
aches, stomach aches, headaches,
fevers and even change the color
of the eays of some eaters to a
dull brown or dull red. They fill
the eater with drowsiness, laziness
— slow thinking, slow moving
and the tendency to be easily ir
ritated. The swine eaters are al
ways ready to rise up for a dis
pute and fight other people and
among themselves.
As of now there is no known
cure for this disease. You cannot
cook the meat at a high enough
temperature or long enough to kill
the worm. The only preventoin is
not to eat the swine.
“Eat not his flesh, nor touch
his dead carcass.”
