Hold Your Heads
Up, Mighty Devils
BY LEROY WHITE
Although we have a 1-8-1
football record this season, this
is no reason to go around with
our heads down. As long as
we play good, hard, and fair
games, we have reasons to be
proud.
Pride belongs to those who
have done their best, though
the end result be victory or de
feat, preservation or destruc
tion, in the red or in the black.
The athlete who contributes
his useful talents and strength
to his. team should feel this
pride — this satisfaction of
having given his best.

Are you standing in the
shadow of the crowd — a non
descript person, tossed around
by the actions of others? This
is a fine school, full of people
who realized long ago what
they wanted and how to get it.
It’s so easy to just sit back and
let them do everything, but it’s
not right. This school can’t
have real spirit or unity until
everyone pitches in. Every
person in this school is impor
tant, whether they know it" or
not, with their own special
abiliies and talents. Discover
yours now while you’re in
school, because school’s a time
of growth and learning. Be
positive and strive to do your
best at whatever you attempt.
With every person trying, we
can’t fail to be on top!
“It’s not going to be easy to
break up with Mary Lou. She
has three of my most expen
sive tapes.”
Devils through, win or lose
should also feel this pride
The cheerleaders who cheered
the Devils on also have reason
to be proud.
Coach .Bill Cloer, you also
have reasons to be proud. You
had a good team. However
we all make mistakes and they
made some that meant the dif
ference between victory or de
feat.
You all have reasons to be
proud. You all should be ad
mired. It’s so easy to give up
when things don’t go our way
yet everyone of you stayed to
the end.
Pride in achievement is
tangible quality which can be
seen and felt by anyone who
puts forth his best efforts in
whatever area he is most like
ly to make the worthiest con
tribution —, the dedication, of
himself to his work.
