Thomas Bigelow/Gregory Satorie Workshop will discuss the "Power of a Loving God working in the AIDS crisis: A Christian approach.” "Meditation and Spirituality” Great Valley C Facilitator: Joseph P. Rocha - Spiritual Counselor, Program Director, New Age Foundation of Charlotte Workshop consists of identifying to the participants the process of meditation and providing examples of how meditation and spirituality can be integrated into daily living patterns. Workshop includes one guided meditation. "Co-Dependency: A Beginning" Atlanta 4 Facilitator: Katherine Holding, Counselor Workshop will explore some of the issues of co- dependcncy. 'Lesbian and Gay Adult Children of Alcoholics and Co Dependents" Atlanta 1 Facilitator: Linda Regnier, RN/CAC This presentation is designed to promote an understanding of the family rules, roles and messages we develop as the result of growing up in a family, or living and working with individuals who are addicted to chemicals, money, sex, power, food, etc. "Couples, Inc.: An Army of Lovers" Piedmont Room Facilitator: J. Carey Junkin, Executive Director Couples, Inc. is the National Organization for Family Diversity. It grew out of organizing "THE WEDDING" at the March on Washington in October, 1987. 'THE WEDDING" was only the first time we will demand equal recognition of same- sex families. "Organizing for Sexual Freedom" Atlanta 3 Facilitator: Sue Hyde, Director, Privacy Project, N.G.L.T.F. Ms. Hyde will discuss sodomy law reform in the South...stralegies, tactics, and victory! "Gay Film Festival" Cumberland A/B A series of full length films/documentaries will be shown continuously throughout the conference. See the Schedule Board for titles/times. 11:45 a-m. -1:15 p.m. WORKSHOP SESSION H "Uses and Abuses of Separatism” Atlanta 2 Facilitators: M. P. Schildmeyer, Feminist Attorney Gary Kaupman, Freelance Writer Workshop will be divided into three parts: 1) Introduction to define the issues and process. 2) Physical, verbal and written exercises to allow participants to explore their feelings about separation in a safe environment. 3) Discussion of perceptions of separation. "Your Drinking is Killing Me" Atlanta 1 Facilitator: David Cook, M.D. Research has shown that 30% of the gay community is addicted to alcohol and other mood altering chemicals. If, as is estimated, there are 4-6 more people (lovers, family, co-workers) whose lives are impacted by these abuses, then much of the gay community has been ! touched in some way by addiction. "Homophobia" Atlanta 4 Facilitator: Stewart Butler, SECLGM Board of Directors A group discussion ofj homophobia's manifestations and implications in the gay and heterosexual community. "Confrontational Politics in the Age of ADS” Piedmont Room Facilitator: Act Up/AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power Guidelines to focusing on the power of change Colleene Colley within our Community in a non-violent but determined method. "Being Gay/Lesbian in the Smaller Southern Cities: The Frustrations and Joys of It All!" Great Valley A Facilitator: Joseph E Smith, R.N., M.S., C.S. Discusses how to 'cope' and 'survive' in smaller Southern cities where there is no sense of "community." How to meet other gays and lesbians, activities available, and support systems needed. "Fundraising: Methods, Procedures and Skills" Coastal Rom Facilitator: Leland R. Wykoff, SECLGM Board of Directors Workshop examines the various metliods and purposes of fundraising and develops skills for effective and efficient fundraising projects your organization can implement Resource paper will be given to participants. "Caring for Yourself As A Caregiver" Atlanta 3 Facilitator: Ron Lowe Issues involved in caring for friends with AIDS. 1:15 - 2:30 p.m. LUNCH On Your Own 2:45 - 4:00 p.m. WORKSHOP SESSION III "Volunteer Training - Fund for Human Dignity" Great Valley C Facilitator: Catharine A. Bishop The workshop will include a brief history of the National Gay/Lesbian crisis-line and structure of the Fund for Human Dignity training for volunteers. "The Role of Direct Action Groups - Organization, Training and Maintenance" Coastal Room Facilitator: Bill Hunt, Vice President, Dallas Gay Alliance Gary Bellomy, Coordinate, G.U.T.S. Workshop is designed to educate participants in the role of direct action groups in applying pressure and raising consciousness on gay/lesbian and AIDS issues in your community. Will discuss the development, from concept to working reality, of the Gay Urban Truth Squad. "AIDS: Building Community Awareness and Networking in Smaller Communities" Piedmont Rom Facilitator. Leslie Kooyman, Director/Metrolina AIDS Project Knowing your agency's strength, how to approach other agencies, and effectively using the media. "Gay and Lesbian Parenting" Atlanta 2 Facilitator: Lee E Bright, Secretary, GLI*CI Int’l/Atlanta Issues discussed will include: gays and lesbians as parents; becoming parents and step-parents; coming out to the children; literature available; legal issues, including custody and finding an appropriate lawyer; starting a local chapter. ■Natural Dealing for the Immune System" Atlanta 4 Facilitators: Janice Blitzer, M.P.T., R.P.T. Ms. Colley will demonstrate techniques in Muscle-Reshaping-Toning for beginners as well as advanced. 4:15 - 5:30 p.m. WORKSHOP SESSION IV "Calling Queen's X: Feminist Strategies in a Patriarchal World" Atlanta 2 Facilitator: Kay Leigh Hagan, Consultant/Writer In our intimacies, careers, and culture, we confront a system based on dominance. As we develop feminist values - which encourage creativity, cooperation and diversity - how do we continue to operate in social settings that challenge us at every turn? This workshop offers tools for everyday problem-solving from a feminist perspective. "Meditation for Self-Healing and Self-Empowerment" Great Valley A/B Facilitator: Brenda L. Hawkins, Ph. D. Workshop will introduce meditation and explain how it can help lesbians and gay men heal and empower themselves from the inside out. Includes instructions in basic meditation. "The March at Washington and Back to the Statehouse" Atlanta 3 Facilitator: Sue Hyde, Director, Privacy Project, N.G.L.T.F. Five issues to take to your State Legislature and how to get there: 1) sodomy law reform, 2) civil rights protection, 3) hate crimes, 4) AIDS, 5) family issues. 'Living with AIDS in the Black Community " Atlanta 1 Facilitator: Fred Ware, Jr. Black PWAs and their counselors share their experiences in dealing with homophobia and trying to educate the black community about AIDS. "Developing an AIDS Service Organization in a Piedmont Room Smaller Community" Facilitator: Leslie Kooyman, Executive Director, Metrolina AIDS Project, Ron Lowe, Funding Chairman. Building the foundation, development of Board members and funding of the organization. "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Leather But Were Afraid to Ask" Coastal Room Facilitator: Claudia Archibald An overview of the full spectrum of leather activities will be presented.
