TO DAD
(On His 61st Birthday)
Forget you? When fresh from sleep
at break of day
I think 1 hear you call;
When evening finds me listening
For your footsteps in the hall;
When every hour I miss the cheer
And sunlight of your smile,
When I am filled with lonesomeness
And longing all the while
For you who taught me what I know
Of love and truth and right;
The memory of your goodness
Is my lantern in the night.
You were the finest father
Any daughter ever had;
God took a part of my heart away
When He took my darling dad.
—Erna Fromme Asher.
A Wise Doctor
Yon have heard the story «»f the Jew
ish woman going through the labors of
child birth.
She was attended by a Jewish physician.
The lady was suffering. "O Doctor,”
she called in English.
The physician did not move.
“() Doctor,” she called in French.
The physician did not move.
"()i Gowald,” she screamed.
"Now she wants me," said the doctor,
picking himself up.
And so I believe it will he with my
other languages. The depths of the
Palestine sould will be voiced in Hebrew,
talkies or no talkies.
