Arab Scholars Spur Search f or
Moslem Records On the
Wailing Wall
Jerusalem.—Professor J. Azhar, of
the University of Cairo, noted Arabic
historian, lias been asked by the Grand
Mufti of Jerusalem to search the Mos
lem records in Jerusalem regarding the
Wailing Wall, which has again become
an important issue here with the ar
rival of the Wailing Wall Commission
which will start its examinations Mon
day into the Moslem and Jewish claims
to the Wall. Issak Darwish, superin
tendent of the Moslem schools, has
been sent to Damascus to search rec
ords there on the Wailing Wall.
Although unable to travel to Jeru
salem for the Wailing Wall Commis
sion, Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the
American Jewish Committee and of the
Jewish Theological Seminary, who has
forwarded a detailed memorandum on
the Wailing Wall to Jerusalem, Ge
neva, and London, in his capacity as
chairman of the Jewish Agency’s Wail
ing Wall Commission, will go to Geneva
if the Wailing Wall Commission holds
hearings there after its return from
Palestine, the Hebrew Daily Davar re

Safed Mufti Flees for Life
Jerusalem.—Threatened by friends
and relatives of Fuad HI Hedjazi, one
of the three Arabs hanged for the
murder of Jews last August, the Mufti
of Safed fled from the town and hid
ill Nazareth. Immediately after the ex
ecution a crowd assembled around his
home and charged him with the death
of Fuad, saying that it was the Mufti's
agitation and his assurance that no
Arabs would he harmed that made
Fuad participate in the Dots.
Rumania Farmers Organize
Co-operatives
• Bucharest.—Taking a hint from the
agricultural methods of America, a
group of 100 Jewish farmers of Bessa
rabia gathered for a conference at
Kostauzsanli and decided to organize
a cooperative to market their produce.
It is expected that the introduction of
joint marketing will save numerous in
dividual farmers who had been threat
ened with extinction because of ina-
bilitv to reach the market.

Arab Boycott Leaders File
Bankruptcy Petitions
Jerusalem.—Yussuf Daudi and Al
fred Rock, the Moslem and Christian
Arab leaders of the boycott movement
against Jewish goods, have filed peti
tions in bankruptcy, declaring that the
Jewish retaliatory moves against the
Arab boycott ruined their business. It
is believed that the failure of these two
will do much to end the anti-Jewish
boycott.
B?rlin Fascists I hreaten
Pogroms
Berlin.—The forces of the anti-
Semitic Fascist party of Germany were
seen as greatly strengthened as a re
sult of the elections held this week in
Saxony, where the Fascists received
almost 400,000 votes, as against less
than 150,000 in 1929. Encouraged by
the victory in Saxony, the Berlin Fas
cists have threatened to start pogroms
throughout the country unless the gov
ernment revokes its ban on the wearing
of Fascist uniforms. Der Angriff, or
gan of the Fascists—Adolf Hitler’s
Nationalist-Socialist party—warns Ger
many that oppressive restrictions of the
Fascists will have only one result—a
furious attack upon the Jews, who will
he slain wholesale.
