The Herzllite Club
The Herzllite Club of the Southern
Young Judaean Association entertain
ed its members and a few friends at
a straw-ride and swimming party at
Idlewood Park, July 5th. Gold and sil
ver medals were awarded respectively
to Israel Orenstien and Leonard
Orenstien for winning first and second
place in the club tennis tournament.
Those who attended were Wolfie
Bromberg, Leonard Orenstein, Israel
Orenstien, Isadore Oxman. Louis Sie-
gal, Sam Turetsky, David Macorov,
and the chaperone, Miss Lena White-
man, Miss Bernice Smullian, Mr. Os
car F'ineroff and Mr. Edward B.
Vajda.
The Disraeli Club
The Disraeli Young Judean Club
gave its first social affair of the sea
son in the form of a moonlight out
ing at Dixie Lakes on Sunday, June
28th. The members of the club are as
follows: Herbert Constangy, Nathan
Smith, Jerome Lipitz, Ix*on Shalloway,
Simon Noveck, Henry Greenberg, Joe
Kelman, Max Pollock, Milton Danne
man, Max Perlman and David Amato.
The young ladies present were: Nel
lie Bromberg, Rosalie Hirsch, Flor
ence Farkas, Jean Broudy, Lena Mel-
nick, Fannie Turetsky, Beatrice Ep
lan, Ella Zelien, and Helen Osor.
Meetings of the club are held every
Sunday in the Ansley Hotel at 6:30
P. M. On June 14th election of offi
cers for the coming term was held.
Milton Danneman being chosen pres
ident; Henry Greenberg, vice-presi
dent; Leon Shalloway, secretary and
Herbert Constangy the retiring presi
dent assuming the financial responsi
bilities of treasury. A most important
feature in the work of the club is its
literary endeavors. All the literary
and cultural work of the club is done
through a literary committee which
has complete charge of such matters.
A large part of each meeting is de
voted to the literary programs. These
include among other things, talks on
Disraeli, the great Jewish English
statesman for whom the club was
named, current events of the Jewish
world, and debates on subjects of cur
rent Jewish interest. As a senior club
two delegates are to be sent to the
convention in Chattanooga. Those are
Milton Danneman and Henry Green
berg whom were chosen.
By main force we have persuaded the temperature
of our Street Floor and Basement to drop about
10 degrees below that of the street outside. The
refrigerating system, which does the trick, washes
and refrigerates millions of cubic feet of air
every hour.
So if you were goiii£ to Lakemont only to cool
off, you can put your auto back in the garage.
It s so cool here that you’d be apt to look on our
establishment as a summer resort if we didn't
