It’s twenty-seven varieties now. The
Messrs. Singer, Cohen, and Slutsky, who
ever they are, write in to say that they
can send us pickles for any occasion.
Pickle me this: When von are waiting
for a street car and you find that—well,
what is the difference? . . .
Did you know that Louis (American
Hebrew) Rittenberg translates and edits
the works of Franz Molnar in their Eng
lish edition? And that there is a room
in a New York Y. M. C. A. called after
Arthur Hammerstein, the one-time pros
perous producer who would now much
more appreciate being given a room. . . .
If and when the sales tax portion of the
revenue hill now being thrashed out in
Congress passes the House, you will
have Bernard M. Baruch, big-money man,
whose big idea it was in the first place,
to thank for it. . . .
Paul Yawitz, latest of New Y ork s
scoop columnists, can wear a carnation
without having to apologize for it. . . .
It is not so long ago that Arnold Moss,
announcer for the Columbia Broadcasting
System, was scribbling things in the
Registrar’s Office of the College of the

City of New York. . . . Are the Cleve
landers listenin'? Norman Siegel, col-
umnist for the Cleveland Press, wears
shoes size 12A. It would take quite a
man to fill his boots. . . . Magistrate
Jeanette Goodman Brill, New York’s only
woman jurist, is a child of the ghetto,
the daughter of Polish immigrants, who
started her career as a teacher in an
East Side school. . . . Montague (Potash
and Perlrmitter) Glass was that worried
about his little girl who was plenty ill
last week. . . . Odd Fact Number 43 5627;
Benny (Longnose) Rubin is a native of
Boston, yes, Bahsten. . . . Little Miss
Kitten (Sylvia Sidney) has had her hair
bobbed. For art’s sake, well, certainly for
Paramount’s sake, which needed her that
way. What was George (Jester) Jessel
doing backstage at the Morosco Theatre
that day? His Rolls Royce touring car
with chauffeur were waiting for him. . . .
Meyer Levin, reporter, novelist, actor and
puppet expert, has written another book.
It is called “The Golden Mountain" and
deals of Chassidic tales. I^vin has a
marionette workshop in the New School
for Social Research.
