University of North Carolina
Alpha Pi Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau
announces the new officers for the com
ing year. They are: Nasi, Julien
Meyer; Vice-nasi, John Alexander; So-
far, Julian Frankel, and Gisbar, Elmer
Oettinger. Initiation of the pledge group
will be celebrated with a banquet and
dance. Zeta Beta Taus who are taking
an active part on the campus are John
Alexander, who is on the editorial board
of the “Daily Tarheel,” and Julien Meyer
and John Shiller, who are on the editorial
staff of the college magazine. Joe Lichen-
fels is in the school band, and Elmer
Oetinger is a member of the Playmakers.
Julian Frankel is a member of the Sopho
more Executive Committee. The chapter
is also represented in athletics, with the
captain of the track team, Weil; John
Alexander on the varsity football squad,
and Julian Frankel a candidate for the
varsity baseball team. Pledges Straus
and Seegal candidates for the freshman
baseball team, while pledge Avner was a
member of the freshman football squad.
The scholastic rating of the fraternity
on the North Carolina campus is exceed
ingly high.
Georgia lech
The Atlanta Alumni Association and Xi
Chapter of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity
were host at a “Gangster Brawl” at the
Standard Club recently. A representative
array of costumes and the shooting of
toy guns as well as decorations befitting
the occasion featured the dance. Mem
bers of Xi Chapter of the fraternity are
Colson Perry- Coleman, Randy Commins,
Henry Solomonson, Louis Funkenstein, Jr.,
Leo J. Drum, Jr., Teddy Meyer, Jr.,
Nathan Lobman, Ben Strauss, Sol Wil-
ensky and Henry Geigerman.
Max D. Morris, light middleweight
amateur boxing champion and senior at
Georgia Tech, is conducting classes in
calisthentics, boxing and wrestling for
members of the Standard Club. Mr.
Morris represented Tech in the national
A. A. U. boxing contest, where he went
to the semi-finals. The gymnasium classes
are being conducted on Wednesday eve
nings for men, and a class for women on
Tuesday and I'hursday evenings.
The Progress Club of the Georgia
I ech Evening School of Commerce gave
a wiener roast at Stone Mountain. Guests
were Bee Schreiber, Miriam Baum, Syl
via Smullian, Bertha Saperstein, Stella
Spielberger and Helen Berman. Members
ot the Club who attended the affair were
Louis Zimmerman, Sam Stern, Joe Seitz
Nathan Krasner, Ralph Hillman, Nathan
Lipshitz and Louis Manning.

> Installation of the Beta Nu Chapter of
Phi Delta Epsilon, national medical fra
ternity’, at Emory University, was cele
brated recently at the Standard Club,
with a formal banquet. Dr. Russell H.'
Oppenheimer, dean of the School of Medi
cine of Emory University, was principal
speaker. Other guests present were: Dr
Benjamin Koven, of Brooklyn, N. Y.,
grand consul of the fraternity; Dr. David
Silberman, of Baltimore, past grand con
sul; Dr. Louis Sachs, of Baltimore, dis
trict deputy grand consul; Dr. Nathan
Reagle, Dr. Irving Goldstein, Philip Lev-
ington, Irving Greenberg, James Wein
berg. The members of the new chapter
are: Dr. Joseph Yampolsky, Dr. Dave
Berman, Dr. Philip Levinson, Morris Tar
anto, Ralph Cohen, A. A. Citrynell, Harry
Parks, M. I. Berlin, Noah Feldman and
H. B. Yagol.
Nathan Yagol, of Atlanta, and Leo
Wachtel, of Savannah, were honored in
the recent spring elections at Emory Uni
versity. Yagol was elected president of
the next year’s Junior Class and Wachtel
was elected to the Students’ Activities
Council. Both are members of the sopho
more class. Wachtel is assistant manager
of the Emory Wheel, member of the Var
sity Glee Club, and assistant editor of the
college handbook. Yagol is a member of
Alpha Epsilon Upsilon, honorary junior
college scholastic society.
The awarding of music charms to mem
bers of the Emory orchestra was made
recently. Among those who were given
the charms in recognition of their service
to the college orchestra were Simon Wen-
der, Isadore Hoffman and Mendel Segal.
A glee club charm was also awarded to
Mendel Segal in connection with a tour
made by the glee club to South Georgia.

“Little Commencement” at the Univer
sity of Georgia, featuring the spring
dances, was attended by a large number
