JUDGE ALGER
NON I. NOVA, a
Jew, in sentencing
two Jewish youths to
the reformatory for
robbery, castigated
them for bringing “disgrace on a God
fearing, long-suffering people, the Jews.
You are unworthy of and traitors to your
Jewish heritage because you have violated
the laws in America where Jew and Gen
tile are given full opportunity to enjoy the
generous freedom of our institutions.” He
similarly upbraided a Catholic youth for
not being a good Catholic.

leader of the German minority in Czecho

Jews had contributed so much to (rerman
culture and scholarship that it was stupid
to repay them with persecution.

RUTH SLENCZNSKI, an eight-year-
old piano genius from Sacramento, Cali
fornia, created a sensation at her New
York debut in Town Hall when the critics
unanimously hailed her as the equal of
some of the masters. Her technical equip

power from a grand piano despite her
youth astounded the audience. Her only
teacher has been her father, Josef, who
is a violinist. She has already appeared

a three-year period of studying abroad

Was never drawn into controversies ea-
cept on occasions when he reserved for
himself the right to present the two faces
of the medal. As head of the Foreign
Policy Association he has never hesitated
to give the floor to representatives of ea-
treme points of view. He gave full free
dom to the spokesmen of the Arabs to
eapres* their views to the members of
the Foreign Policy Association at the
height of the Arab-Jewish controversy
several years ago. Few Americans have
had wider eaperience for first-hand study
of international developments. His work
has taken him abroad nearly every year!
At Geneva and at the capitals of Europe
and the Orient he has met most of the
outstanding political personalities. He has
conferred with Laval, (sandhi, (Tang
