B. F. VINSON
B. P. Vinson, vice-president of
the Southern division of the At
lantic & Pacific Tea Company,
observed a memorable occasion
yesterday, in the passing of the
41st year of his association with
A. & P.
The story of Mr. Vinson’s rise
from a grocer’s helper at 25 cents
a day to his present position in
of the largest firms in the coun
try reads like a chapter of fiction.
His genius for management and
supervision was recognized by his
superiors at an early date.
Mr. Vinson received many con
gratulatory expressions from his
many friends and acquaintances
throughout the South.

Bring Broadway To
Atlanta
Boston (WNS)—Six Jews were
"lected to the state legislature in
Tuesday’s state-wide election.
Those elected were David A. Rose,
of Boston; Sidney Rosenberg, of
Boston; Abraham I. Zimon, of
Boston: Bernard Finklestein, of
Boston; Philip Barnett, of North
Adams.and Albert Rubin, of Fall
River.
Chicago (WNS)—Adolph J. Sa-
bath, dean of the House of Repre
sentatives and a dark horse can
didate for Speaker of the 74th
Congress, won a smashing victor
in his campaign for a 15th conse
cutive term in Congress on thr
Democratic ticket. Joseph Mende -
won a seat in the state senate and
Louis G. Berman and Edward P
Saltiel were elected to the state
house of representatives. Joseph
S. Drucker, Sabath’s nephew,
George B. Weiss and J. M
Braude were elected Judges of
the municipal court. Mitchell V.
Robin was elected clerk of the
probate court and Fred Fischman
won a place as Cook County Com
missioner.
When Earl Carroll’s tenth edition
of his world famous “Vanities,” with
all his New Y<Jrk stars and the
justly famous “most beautiful girls'
in the world,” comes to Atlanta for
two performances on Monday, No
vember 26, at the City Auditorium,
it will require the services of 23
stage hands to hang and handle the
tremendous stage settings required.
There will also be an exception
ally large orchestra, with the music
ians who travel with the show aug
mented by a like number of local
men for this engagement only.
This show is the same that will
open in New York later in the seas
on. This season Carroll is trying
out the idea of sending his show “on
the road” fresh from rehearsals
and saving the New York enga*,.
ment for later in the winter. Th'
of course, is distinctly to the ad
vantage of Atlanta and the other
cities where it will play, inasmuch
as it comes here new and f res jj
from rehearsal, with exactly the
same players, principals, show girls
singers, dancers and ballet, as win
appear later in New York.
Ken Murray heads the cast, pro .
viding most of the fun, with Chas
Chase as his principal comedy lieu,
tenant.
Reports from the few cities at
which the show has appear* d since
it concluded rehearsals about ten
days ago state that it is undoubted-
ly as good as thp best “Vanities' 1
Carroll ever staged, while several
critics acclaim it as by far the best
of them all.
