"The Southern Israelite,
Atlanta, Ga.
Gentlemen:
"The Atlanta Style and
Market Week, to be held dur
ing the week of March 2, is
another step forward on the
part of Atlanta manufactur
ers and distributors in the ap
parel field for better serving
the retail trade in the Atlanta
trade territory.
"The Atlanta Chamber of
Commerce extends a cordial
invitation to retail merchants
in Georgia and neighboring
states to visit Atlanta during
Market Week; to visit the va
rious establishments and par
ticipate in the event; to in
spect the merchandise which
has been provided for the
spring season and to attend
the Dinner and Style Show,
to be given on the Roof of
the Ansley Hotel on the night
of March 4. We offer our fa
cilities to visiting merchants,
in every way possible, for
their comfort and conven-
ience.
"Manufacturers and dis
tributors taking part in the
Style and Market Week are
shaping up attractive spring
lines, getting ready to offer
the best merchandise avail
able from the standpoint of
style and quality and we are
confident that Atlanta, as a
nearby market, offers mer
chants in the territory an op
portunity to secure the kind
of merchandise they desire
for their own trade.
"Every effort is being
made to eclipse, in every re
spect, the Show which was
staged in August of 1935,
and we want to have an op
portunity to receive, enter
tain and serve a large number
of merchants from a vast ter
ritory.
"Again, let me extend a
most cordial welcome to bus
iness men and women in our
sister cities throughout the
territory.
"Very truly yours,
W. Eugene Harrington,
President.’*

ling-Collinsworth, finance chair
man and treasurer; Claude Smith,

The purpose of Style and Market
Week is to acquaint merchants of
the Southeast with all the advan
tages which Atlanta has to offer,
as a buying center.
In a sense, this great gathering
of jobbers, merchants, dealers and
buyers will be history-making. The
growth of Atlanta, from a small
town to the Gate City of the South
was based upon the progressive
spirit of its citizens. Likewise, the
recognition of Atlanta today as a
great merchandise market is due to
the efforts of leading manufactur
ers and distributors in calling at
tention to the ideal location of the
city, its great network of transpor
tation facilities, its accessibility to
all merchants in the Southeast.
A whole new buying field has
been opened to buyers in the grow
ing popularity of Atlanta as a mar
ket center.
The day of extensive traveling to
Eastern markets in order to obtain
goods has gone forever. Today, the
discriminating buyer may come to
Atlanta and find first-class mer
chandise, dependable as to style and
quality, and in great variety. No
other locality in the country can
boast lines that are finer or more
complete.
The day when the buyer had to
pay exorbitant prices for quality
goods when shopping on home-
grounds is past. Reasonable prices
prevail in Atlanta,, made possible
by a tremendous volume of business
and a constant replenishment of
stock.
Among other advantages which
Atlanta, in her new role of market
center, has to offer are reduced
transportation costs of goods pur
chased in the city, without delays
in shipment. No longer does the
merchant have to wait days and
often weeks for delivery; no longer
need he cut his profits in half bv
paying large transportation tariffs
Atlanta, where all transportation
facilities are on hand, offer
great saving in shipping rates and
the prompt delivery of goods.
Manufacturers and distributors
in Atlanta have gone to extra pains
in order to have complete stock? on
hand, and to furnish saleable mer
chandise at popular prices.
The group of merchants, manu
facturers and distributors who are
sponsoring Style and Market Week
are going to considerable expense
in making it successful.
While the main affair will take
place Wednesday evening, March
4th, when an elaborate style show
will be presented in conjunction
with a dinner dance, preparations
are being made to entertain visi
tors throughout the week.
Merchants of the Southeast are
cordially invited to attend Style
and Market Week.
