Choral Group Wins
First Prize
At the Young Judean Southern
Region convention held last week
in Birmingham, Alabama JEA
members received several honors.
The Alliance Young Judean
Choral group composed of Beadie
j Sirota and Madilyn Russ of the
1 Waldeans and Helen Klein, Helen
i Goldman, and Helen Lander of
the Judateens, won first place in
1 the region wide choral group com-
i petition. These girl* deserve a
great deal of credit for this vic
tory, since this was their initial
attempt at group singing. For the
past few weeks they had been de
voting several evenings per week
to practice and rehearsals and
winning first prize was a fitting
climax to their efforts-
Beadie Sirota, popular Waldean,
was elected first vice president of
the Southern region. This honor
shows us that Bea is not only
popular here at the Alliance but
that her interest and efforts on
behalf of Young Judea are recog
nized and appreciated throughout
the South.
Another one of our girls scored
a personal triumph when Helen
Lander of the Judateans was
elected ‘‘sweetheart” by the boys
of the VLK fraternity of New Or
leans. The convention was enjoyed
thoroughly by all Alliance mem
bers who attended.
CAMP DANIEL MORGAN
On Tuesday the 18th oof August
the girls at Camp Daniel Morgan
who are remaining over for the
second session tendered a banquet
for those girls going home at the
end of the first period. The theme
of the banquet was Indian. The
girls told, in pageant form, how

name They also trnced the early
history of the Hard Labor Creek
Area with beautiful tableaux por
traying interesting, historical inci
dents which took place before
! revolutionary times. The entire
project was conceived and plan
ned by the campers who wrote the
i script as well as made all the de-
! corations and costumes.
The girls expanded a great deal
of effort in preparing for the ban
quet and did considerable research
in order to obtain material for the

will be offered by Jonas Mitchell
