As Equipment Becomes
Available More Telephones
Can Be Installed
A* new switchboards, cables, wire and tele
phones become available, we will be able lo
serve more ami more of those who have been
waiting longest for service.
To catch up on all held orders for serviee
will require very large additions to our tele
phone plant.
This is a tremendous construction job that
will require much time to complete even after
the delivery of equipment. There are many
places where we have switchboards to install,
even places where we must construct new
, buildings or building additions to house new
switchboards.
But we can say that we are on our way to
furnish service to all who want it—on our
way to restore Bell System standards of ser
vice and raise them even higher.

NEW YORK — (8 pec i aD-
Prime Minister Edward B
Osubka-Morawski of Poland
pledged removal of difficulties
and red tape for Jews who wish
to emigrate from Poland, but
asserted those wishing to remain
will receive every opportunity
for a free life in economic and
social advancement.
This was revealed by the World
Jewish Congress this week in a
cablegram from Samuel
Margoshes and Louis Segal of
New York, members of its exe
cutive committee, who are in
Warsaw analyzing the causes
that are forcing many Jews to
leave Poland.
FAVORS JEWISH STATE
In view of the impending
visit to Warsaw of the Anglo-
American Committee of Inquiry
on Palestine, Prime Minister
Osubka-Morawski, stated ac
cording to the cable, that he is
whole-heartedly in favor of open
doors and a Jewish Common
wealth in Palestine.
Concerning the wide-spread
reports of anti-Jewish incidents
in Poland which he attributed
to previous regimes and six
years of Nazi occupation, the
Premier added many people
overlook the fact a large propor
tion of the Polish people risked
their lives to save Jews from
persecution. He pointed out.
however, that for every surviv
ing Jew, as well as for those
whose rescue was attempted in
vain, at least ten Poles were in
volved in providing secret
shelter, forged documents and
other underground aids.
TO FIGHT BIGOTS
The Premier further declared
the fight against anti-Semitism
in Poland wiil continue as a part
of its fight for democracy for
the benefit of all regardless of
race or creed. He said Jews
desiring to go to Palestine will
find sympathetic understanding
by the Polish Government in
spite of the fact the Polish state,
having sustained great losses of
population, is anxious to keep
all of its inhabitants who are
able and willing to share the
work of reconstruction.
Answering a toast by the con
gress delegation to a "free in
dependent and just Poland,” the
Premier drank to a "free world
and a free independent Jewish
state,” the cable added.
