Peron, wife of the Argentine
President, this week told a dele
gation from the pro-Peronist Or
ganization Israelita Argentina.
The First Lady also told the
delegation that the doors of this
country will be open to Jews who
wish to come here. In addition to
expressing satisfaction that the
“Jews now have a state of their
own,” Mrs. Peron expressed her
confidence in the O. I. A. as a
liaison agent between the govern
ment and the Jewish community.

SPORTS RALLY
The Health and Physical Educa
tion Committee has approved a
sports rally to be held at the Al
liance Sunday, Feb. 27. Chairman
Joe Gerson feels that this will be
the largest sports rally in the his
tory of the Alliance. A Youth
Committee consisting of represen
tatives from each club in the Al
liance, under the chairmanship of
Bobby Tuck including Saul Feld
man, Herb Mendel, Frieda Feld
man, Bernita Hirsch will plan the
entire rally. A dance and basket
ball game will be included, with
the Alliance varsity competing
against Tau Epsilon Phi’Fraternity
of Georgia. .
OLD TIMERS
An old-timers basketball team is
being formed under the leadership
of Moyer Balser. The ^team will
consist of many old time greats
such as Kitty Katz, Usher Edel-
stein, Pony Minsk, Barney Meti-
intz, Louky Rosenberg, Elliot
Rubin, and Izzy Friedland. This
game will be played March 6th on
Sunday afternoon at the Alliance.
Be sure to attend. Varsity vs Old
Timers.
BOYS PING PONG
A boys ping pong tournament is
in its final phase with the leading
contenders Victor Leaf, Richard
Carl, Saul Feldman and Arthur
Bartell. This tournament finals
will be played on or before Feb.
27th.
GIRLS PING PONG
Rochelle Leaf won the champ
ionship for the “A” league ping
pong tournament and leaders in
the “B” league are Shirley Wol-
son, Nancy Garber, Frieda Feld
man and Phyllis Tannenbaum. In
the “C” league girls tournament,
Harriet Rosenbaum, Joan Nocks,
Irene Smiley and Isabelle Sirota
are among the contenders.
BOYS BASKETBALL
With the girls and “B” league
basketball over for the season, we
are now in the final phase of the
“A” league basketball tournament.
AZA 134 took sole possession of
first place in the second half of
the league by defeaing J. T. C. 32
to 34. Finkelstein, Simon and
Kahn leading the victors in scor
ing. An underrated AZA 518 team
pulled the surprising upset by
playing excellent ball, offensively
and defensively to defeat D. S. I.
and pushing them to third place
in the league standing. Magnifi
cent ball handling by Saul Feld
man, who scored 14 points and led
his team to. victory. S. O. Z. de
feated L. A. P. in a run away 51
to 26. Strengthened by Herb Men
del, former Smith High stalwart,
who scared 23 points was the out
standing player of the game.

TOURANAMENT
A tournament sporsored by two
of our outstanding citizens, Meyer
Balser and Barney Medintz, is
down to the finals with 134 and
518 and S. O. Z. contending for
the championship. This tourna
ment has great interest and the
crowds have been overwhelming.
“B” LEAGUE HANDICAP
A “B” league handicap tourna
ment is being tried for the-first
time in the history of the Alliance,
in which one team spots a number
of points to their opponents to
equalize the game. This tourna
ment has become very popular in
the past two weeks and is down
to its finals with AZA 518 “B”
team being spotted 14 points
against the league champion D. S.
I. “B” team.
