Special Community
Memorial Assembly
In Atlanta April 19
Morton L. Weiss,' president of
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Council, and Irving Levy, chair
man of a Special Planning Com
mittee, announced this week that
a Special Community Memorial
Assembly to commemorate the
Warsaw Ohetto Uprising and in
memory of the six million Jews,
who perished at the hands of the
Nazis, will be held at 8 p.m.
Sunday, April 19, at the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center.
- Mr. Weiss stated “that the
Memorial Assembly has become
an annual event. Special meet
ings commemorating the heroic
and historic struggle of a free
dom-loving people against the
repressive and destructive forces
of tyranny, and memorializing
the victims of the Hitler terror,
are held throughout the free
world.
Mr. Levy, who will preside at
the Assembly, advised that the
Special Committee has worked
out the following program: Rab
bi Sydney K. Mossman of Con
gregation Shearith Israel will
conduct a memorial service in
which Cantor Philip Rosenblatt
of Beth Jacob Congregation will
participate.
The Assembly will be address
ed by Samuel H. Rosenberg,
executive director, Atlanta Bu
reau of Jewish Education. H.
Lewis will speak in Yiddish.
Max Podber, accompanied by
Mrs. Irving Goldstein, will ren
der a vocal selection.
The public is invited.

mittee has lowered the minimum
age of Health Club members
from'21 to 18. The Health Club,

UNITED NATIONS, (AJP) —
UNESCO has publicized the
centennial commemoration of
Eliezer Ben Yehudah by pub
lishing a comprehensive feature
story on his life and works in a
current issue .of its Weekly
Bulletin which is distributed
widely all over the world in
cluding the Arab states. The
article, written by Bertha Gas-
ter, is entitled “Si Monumentum
Requiris.”

Science Club Formed
At Hebrew Academy
The most recent of the educa
tional developments at the He
brew Academy pf Atlanta has
been the formation of a Science
Club. The activities of this group
will supplement the school cur
riculum in the field of the gen
eral sciences. The club is com
posed of students from the 5th
and 6th grades who meet weekly
oh Wednesday afternoon for one'
hour after school|.
To date the club has had dis
cussions, experiments and activi
ties in the following: “Space
Travel and Its Problems,” “Elec
tricity and Electric Wiring Prac
tice,” “The Digestive and Nerv
ous Systems,” “The Anatomy of
a Chicken,” “Rocket and Jet
Propellsion,’ and “Studies in
Micro-Biology and Microscope
Practice.”
The club leader is Arthur
Kaufman who holds degrees in
organic chemistry and bacteri
ology from the University of
Alabama and Tulane University.
The formation of this club is
the first of several that have
been planned to begin in the
near future. It is hoped that the
development of the club pro
gram will help meet the recent
ly expanded needs of our stu
dents and community.
