Nominees Sought for Gate City
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service
Award for the year 1960 will
be presented at a special meet
ing of Gate City Lodge of B’nai
B’rith on Sunday, Jan. 15, ac
cording to Ed Glaser, chairman
of the award committee.
Mr. Glaser states that the
selection will be made by the
Committee, composed of all the
officers of the Lodge in early
December In accordance with
the rules governing the selection
the Committee is inviting letters
of recommendation from all
members of the community as
to their choice for the award.
Anyone desiring to make a
recommendation is urged to com
municate with Mr. Glaser Sep
arate letters may be written
setting forth the reasons for the
individual’s choice.
The formula for the selection
is as follows: “Gate City Lodge
should choose each year a citi
zen of Greater Atlanta, who, on
behalf of the City of Atlanta, in
the judgment of the Distinguish
ed Service Award Committee,
best exemplifies the spirit and
precepts of B’nai B’rith—bene
volence, brotherly love, and har
mony—by reason of his accomp
lishments and unceasing and de
voted efforts for the advance
ment of Jewish communal life.”
Rabbi Jacob .1 Weinstein, of
Chicago, Ill . will deliver the
principal address of the evening.
Max Rittenbaum, president of
Gate City Lodge urges all mem
bers to attend this event as Rab
bi Weinstein is considered one
of the best speakers on tin'

In Charleston
CHARIJSSTON — The first
chapter of B’nai B’rith Girls to
be formed in this city is now
functioning under a temporary
charter, according to Miss Myra
Abramson, secretary of the
group
The chapter is now under
going a six months’ training pro
gram and has made plans to
work together with Charleston
AZA 143 in community service
projects. The girls participated
in the recent B’nai B’rith Con
vention held here.

announced the appointment of
Elliott Goldberg, life-long resi
dent of Atlanta, as the manager
of its new Business Brokerage
Department.
The firm officials announced
the establishment of this new
service as another facility to be
of broader usefulness to the
public.
Mr Goldberg can be contacted
for listing businesses for sale or
by individuals wishing to buy
one for either a long range in
vestment return or for a steady,
quick profit. He can be contacted
as well as for consultation on
investment opportunites. He will
also serve as a general real es
tate salesman and consultant for
the realty firm
A life-long resident of Atlanta,
Mr Goldberg has been in the
poultry and egg business for the
past twenty years. He brings a
wide experience in business
conditions to his new post. Mr
Goldberg has been prominent in
communal affairs, particularly
the Jewish War Veterans At
lanta Post and the Atlanta Jew
ish Welfare Fund. He is a mem
ber of Ahavath Achim Congre
gation and at one time was an
advisor of one of Atlanta’s most
successful youth groups.
He is married to the former
Miss Sarah Spielgelman. They
have two children, Edward and
Marcia and reside at 1368 Pasa
dena Ave., N. E.

Choral Croup to Met*!
The Center’s Adult Choral
Group will resume its regular
rehearsals on Monday, Oct. 17 at
8:00 p.m.
The Choral Group will sing
Jewish, folk and semi classical
music. A number of concerts
and cantatas are being planned
for presentation to interested
organizations.
The Choral Group is under the
direction of Mrs. Anna Dodd, a
graduate of the Atlanta Conser
vatory of Music. It is open to all
members of the Center. There
is no admission fee. During the
first half hour of each rehearsal,
Mrs. Dodd will teach music
reading to those members of the
group who desire to learn music.
