Grant To Brandeis U.
WALTHAM, Mass., (JTA)—An
exploratory study on the chang
ing roles of health workers in
modern medical practice will be
launched by the Florence Heller
Graduate School for Advance
Studies in Social Welfare of
Brandeis University, it was an
nounced here. The study, to be
financed by a $50,000 grant by
the National Foundation-March
of Dimes, will seek to determine
to what extent and how profess
ional education for health per
sonnel should be changed to
meet modern conditions.
Theodore Shapiro, a promi
nent New York Jewish philan
thropist, has underwritten the
cost of building a $150,000 lec
ture hall at Brandeis University,
it was also announced. The hall,
to be known as the Theodore
Shapiro Forum, will be modeled
on the United Nations General
Assembly hall. Mr. Shapiro, a
benefactor of numerous educa
tional and medical institutions,
is a founder of the Albert Ein
stein Medical School of Yeshiva
University.

NEW YORK—The National
Jewish Welfare Board (JWB)
has announced publication of
the 1961-62 edition of the offi
cial "Jewish Calendar for Mem
bers of the Armed Forces,” more
than 3,000,000 copies of which
have been issued since 1917.
The 80-page, pocket-size Cal
endar for the Jewish New Year
5722 contains information of re
ligious, cultural and recreational
value to American GIs. The little
Baedeker-Directory will be dis
tributed by Jewish military
chaplains in the U.S. and over
seas at the coming Jewish New
Year services to be held under
JWB auspices at more than 600
Israelis Reported
Sentenced In Spain
To Nine Years
PARIS, (JTA)—Zvi Aldoubi,
an Israeli journalist, and Jacques
Fenchon, a French companion on
a foray into Spain, have been
sentenced to nine and six years
imprisonment reflectively by a
Spanish court, according to un
confirmed reports received here
from Madiicd.
According to the reports the
two men appeared on July 28
before a military tribunal in Bar
celona, together wth two Spani
ards alleged to be involved in
the same affair. They were
charged with having attempted
to create a subversive movement
in Spain and with illegal import
of arms and anarchist tracts.
Earlier stories had been to the
effect that Aldoubi went to Spain
on a clandestine bid to abduct
Leon DeGrelle, the former Bel
gian Nazi leader, who is now
living in Spain. According to the
reports from Madrid, the two
Spaniards were acquitted.
