Lazer Bolgla
AUGUSTA — Lazer Bolgla, 59,
brother of Morris Bolgla of Au
gusta, died recently in New York
City. Funeral services were held
in Elliott Sons Chapel. Rabbi
Chaim Seiger officiated. Inter
ment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. R. A. Fine
Mrs. R. A. Fine, 73, of Atlanta,
died November 28. Funeral serv
ices were held November 28 at
Crest Lawn Cemetery. Rabbi Ja
cob Rothschild officiated.
Mrs. Fine lived in Marietta 45
years before moving to Atlanta
10 years ago. She was the former
Pauline Jacobs.
She was a member of the Tem
ple and the Teinple Sisterhood,
the Marietta Garden Club, East
ern Star, Progressive Club and
Hadassah.
Surviving are a son, Joseph J.
Fine, and a sister, Mrs. Sam Leaf,
both of Atlanta; granddaughter,
Mias Jonee Fine, Atlanta, and
several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. J. N. Reisman
Mrs. Joseph N. Reisman, 69, of
Atlanta, died November 29. Fun
eral services were held Novem
ber 30 at Spring Hill Rabbi Ja
cob Rothschild officiated. Inter
ment was in Crest Lawn Me
morial Park.
Born in New York City, Mrs.
Reisman, the former Elsie Klein
er, was a graduate of Eastman
College. She was co-founder and
partner in the Surgical Selling
Co^ which merged m 1961 with
Ipco Hospital Supply Corp.
Mrs. Reisman was a member of
the Temple, Council of Jewish
Women, Ladies’ Burns Club,
B*nal B’rith Women’s Auxiliary
and National Women’s Commit
tee of Brandeis University.
Surviving are her husband; two
sons, Ralph David and Carl Reis
man, both of Atlanta; a brother,
Joseph L. Kleiner, Tenafy, N. J.;
a granddaughter, Miss Aileen
Ann Reisman, and a grandson,
Richard Carl Reisman, both of
Atlanta.

town, N. Y.; Mrs. Sam Becker and
Mrs. Victor Levy, both of Atlan
ta, and a brother, Max Rose, At
lanta.
I. Domashifsky
Isidore Domashifsky, 79, of
Atlanta, died November 26 in
New York. Funeral services were
held November 27 at Hirsch’s
Funeral Home, Bronx.
Mr. Domashifsky, a native of
New York, had lived in At
lanta more than three years.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Belle Kalifsky and Mrs.
Sophie Siegel, both of Atlanta,
and Mrs. Ethel Freeman of New
York.
P. S. Eiseman Sr.
Fred Samuel Eiseman Sr., 69,
of Atlanta and Minneapolis, died
November 25 in Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held No
vember 29 in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Eisenman, a retired insur
ance agent, was a native of At
lanta. He was an Army veteran
of World L
Surviving are his widow, the
former Rose Weiner; sons, Leon
ard Eiseman, Minneapolis, and
Fred S. Eiseman Jr., Toledo;
sister, Mrs. George Clsirke, Nor
folk; seven grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Miriam Streve
Mrs. Miriam Streve, 75, of At
lanta, died November 24. Funeral
services were held November 26
at Blanchard’s Chapel. Rabbi
Harry H. Epstein officiated. In
terment was in Greenwood Ceme
tery.
Mrs. Streve was the widow of
Abraham Streve. Born in Russia,
she moved to the United States
50 years ago and had been an
Atlanta resident for 27 years. She
was the former Miriam Loshin-
sky. She was a member of Ha
dassah.
Surviving are a son, Arthur
Streve, Atlanta; two daughters,
Mrs. Ben Singer, Atlanta, and
Mrs. Max Schneider, New York;
and a brother, Abraham Loshin
sky, Montreal, Canada.
ISRAEL COHEN DIES
LONDON, (JTA) — Israel Co
hen, veteran Zionist, journalist
and author, died here last week
at the age of 82. A former secre
tary of the World Zionist Organ
ization, he played an important
part in the development of the
Zionist movement since the be
ginning of this century.
Born in Manchester, Mr. Co
hen served on the staff of the
London Tribune from 1906 to
1908. He was secretary of the
British Zionist Federation in
1909-1910 and then served with
the English department of the
World Zionist Organization in
Cologne and Berlin from 1910
until he was interned by the
Germans in 1914. After serving
as WZO director of publicity, he
was named general secretary in
1922 and held that post until 1929.
He had been a member of the
Board of Deputies of British Jews
since 19$1.
Among his works were “Jew
ish Life in Modem Times,” “The
Journal of A Jewish Traveler,”
“History of the Jews in Vilna,"
“Contemporary Jewry,” “A Short
History of Zionism” and "The Re
birth of Israel.”

Has Exhibit by Ida
Sloane Borochoff
Ida Sloane Borochoff is being
presented to the Atlanta pub
lic in her first one-man show at
the Dzirkalis Art Gallery at 333
Peachtree St., N.E.
The exhibit which opened De
cember 3 continues daily from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. through December
17. The public is invited to visit
the gallery to see the paintings.
The artist studied in Chicago,
at the University of Georgia un
der Lamar Dodd and at the At
lanta Art Institute, which is
headed by Ben Shute.
The variety of paintings shown
demonstrate her facility in ex
pressing imagination and using
color, form and textures in pro
jecting pictures that enchant the
eye.
The graphic arts is not the
only form of creativity to which
the artist is adept. She also does
choreography, writing and di
recting for a drama and dance
workshop which will perform at
Grady Hospital and the Golden
Age Club during the holiday
season. She has written a manu
script “The Shut Ddor,” which
she hopes will be published
some day.

Editor Hurwitz Dies
NEW YORK, (JTA)—Funeral
services were held here recently
for Henry Hurwitz, editor of the
Menorah Journal since its incep
tion in 1915 and a leader in the
Menorah movement to promote
interest in Jewish history and
culture, who died here at the
age of 75.
Bom in Lithuania, Mr. Hur
witz was brought to this country
when he was five years old. He
attended Harvard University
where he captained the univer
sity’s debating team and found
ed the Harvard Menorah Society.
He was also the founder of the
Intercollegiate Menorah Associa
tion and its successor, the Meno
rah Association, Inc.

should study art seriously.”

on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 8 pjn., at
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Highlight of the program will
be George Goldman’s presenta
tion with slide pictures of his
Scout Jamboree Trip to Israel.
Also at this meeting Ben Rabi-
nowitz, chairman of the Atlanta
BBYO Committee, will officially
install the New AZA Chapter.

group.
Dr. Morris Benveniste, chair
man of the membership drive, re
ports over one-third of the mem
bership quota and asks that all
members with new applications
bring them to this meeting with
the new members.

Jacob Sisterhood of Savannah,
recently held its Membership Tea
at the Synagogue. Miss Evelyn
Robinson, president, announced
that 31 new members were intro
duced.
Harry Slotin and David Rosen-
zweig reviewed the book, “The
Last of the Just.”

DRIVES ARE REALLY
IMPORTANT
On Sunday, Nov. 19, the girls
in Daughters of B’nai B’rith, like
other chapters were collecting
for Muscular Dystrophy. Twenty-
six members collected approxi
mately $170. The total amount
collected was $1,129.25. Sunday
afternoon members met at Mrs.
Kogan’s house. Then areas were
assigned. In later weeks a tro
phy will be awarded to the
chapter collecting the most
money.

Have First Luncheon
From New Kitchen
The regular monthly meeting
of the Beth Jacob Sisterhood was
held on December 4 In the Shapi
ro Social Hall at the Synagogue.
This was the first luncheon
served out of the new kitchen,
the main dish of course was
“Latkes.”
A narrative on the significance
of Hanukah followed by a sur
prise Quiz Program involving
audience participation was pre
sented. Prizes for the contestants
were donated from the Sister
hood Gift Shop. Program chair
man for the day was Mrs. Melvin
Tillem; the refreshment chair
man, Mrs. Petty Bregman.

The delightful animal kingdom
of “Winnie the Pooh," A. A.
Milne’s beloved childrens’ classic,
comes to life in Atlanta on Satur
day and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10,
when Children’s Theatre of The
atre Atlanta will present the play
at the Women’s Club.
A family trio of Thespians is
starred in the all children cast,
which features Sally, Steven and
Dianne Cantor as Kanga, Roo and
Uncle Rabbie. Martha Blass is an
