Opens May 17
The Atlanta Chapter of the
Leukemia Society will undertake
its second appeal for funds on
Monday, May 17, according to
Dr. John L. Strauss, president of
the Atlanta Chapter.
“Leukemia,” noted Dr. Strauss,
“is now claiming the life of one
American every 45 minutes; over
14,000 Americans will succumb to
this dread disease this year
alone.”
As yet there is no cure for
Leukemia. Dr. Strauss added,
“The research efforts supported
by the Leukemia Society have
been instrumental in extending
the life span of victims and in
helping their families through
their tragic times.”
“However,” he stated, “our
researchers are confident that a
cure is in sight and that many
lives will be saved. Citizens of
Atlanta can help strike back by
giving generously to the leukemia
research fund.
