ta area was a highlight of the re
cent 1965 Organization for Re
habilitation through Train i n g
Convention at Pittsburgh.
Reports of this and of the con
vention news will be reported at
the Open Board Meeting. Tues
day, Dec. 14. at the AJCC Teen
Lounge, at 10:30 a. m.
A slide program depicting the
world wide aspects of ORT will
also be shown at the morning

speak on his impressions of Wash
ington, the 89th Congress and the
role women can play in politics.
Although a freshman representa
tive in Washington Mr. Mackay
has made his mark on the Wash
ington scene with his brilliant
ideas and his Citizens Panels for
Progress. In the 4th District these
panels are stimulating constitu
ents to take an active part in
their government.
“Hadassah, one of the Zionist
groups, is not only interested in
the affairs of Israel but of the
current problems and issues in
the United States,” said Mrs
Silver. Kadimah Study group this
year is studying current events
taken from the National Hadassah
Magazine as well as issues and
events in Georgia and Atlanta.

Couples Club's
“Night in Negev”
“A Night in the Negev” is the
theme of the Shearith Israel Cou
ples Club meeting to be held at
8:30 p. m , Saturday, Dec. 18, at
the Shearith Israel Social Hall.
Entertainment will be high
lighted by an appearance of "The
Ronen," Israeli entertainers Folk
dances and songs will lie demon
strated by an Israeli couple and
refreshments will tie served.

Bonds, this week announced that
Berry Rittenbaum will serve as
co-chairman of this Committee.
Workers have volunteered their
services and have agreed to solicit
all persons who have redeemed
an Israel Bond, urging them to
re-invest. The corps of workers
will also solicit persons who in
1964 enrolled as Bond buyers and
as yet have not re-enrolled as
1965 Bond buyers.

Honor Blass
At Dec. 8 Meet
In recognition of its successful
Camp Judaea capital funds cam
paign, the Atlanta ZOA District
was to recognize the work of Dr.
Nathan Blass, chairman, and his
committee on Thursday, Dec. 9,
at 8 p. m. at the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center, 1745 Peach
tree Rd., N. W.
This was to be another high
light of the fall kick-off meeting
of the year for the local Zionist
District headed by Dr. Larry
Bregman, who with his new slate
of officers was to be installed at
the meeting to which the public
is most cordially invited. Dr. Sid
ney Q. Janus, past president, was
to officiate.
Another feature scheduled for
the open meeting was to be the
presentation and introduction of
the official Israeli family residing
in Atlanta. This will include Shi
mon Yallon, Consul General of
Israel, reporting on the recent
elections and realignment of po
litical systems in Israel.

eral public to join us in an even
ing of fellowship and learning,”

from a visit to the Holy Land.
Dr. and Mrs. Blass visited various
Mizrachi schools and homes
while in Israel and were greatly
impressed by the facilities in the
institutions sponsored by Mizra
chi Women.

In 40 years Mizrachi Women’s
Organization has built in Israel a
network of schools, homes and
villages and centers that have no
equal in quality or achievement,
that are a source of pride to
Israelis and Americans alike,
that fulfill an urgent need for
Israel’s returning remnant and
pave the way for emulation, not
only in Israel but everywhere
takes place Sunday, Dec. 12, at
10 a. m., at the Progressive Club.
Mr. Homburger and Mr. Rit
tenbaum urge all Atlantans who
are holding Bonds which have
matured to redeem them at once
as they no longer earn any inter
est. Holding such Bonds after the
redemption date, therefore, serves
no purpose useful to them as bond
holders. The committee urges that
by way of expressing continued
faith in Israel’s future that funds
so derived be re-invested in the
current Bond issue.
Atlantans are urged to bring
matured Bonds to this breakfast
at the Progressive Club on De
cember 12 or December 19.

“Shearith Israel Sisterhood’s
Annual Hanukah Carnival Sun
day, Dec. 12 promises to be one
of the most exciting,” according
to Mrs. Milton Crane, president.
"The ladies have really been
exerting much effort in obtain
ing different and unusual games
of chance and skill for the chil
dren and adults to participate in,
and the prizes and novelties this
year will be extremely appeal
ing” she continued.
Emphasis has been placed on
the "togetherness” theme and
supper food will be available to
families attending during the
evening hours. The Carnival has
been scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m.
especially to “give Mom a break
from the kitchen.”
Friends of Shearith Israel are

take part in the gala festivities
while partaking of traditional
potato latkes and all the trim
mings. Admission is free and
open to the public.

nounces that an entertaining
afternoon featuring members of
the Academy Theatre will be
presented in their rendition of
excerpts of “The Dybuk”, star
ring Frank Wittow as narrator,
Nancy Edwards as “Frade” and
Michele Rubin as “Leah”. The
Dybuk was recently featured in
a successful run at the Academy
Theatre and received acclaim for
the depth and performance in
this dramatic presentation.
