THI SOUTHERN I SIA ILITI
Hits - Splits - Bowling Bits
By Kenny Silverboard
My name is Kenny. I am now
9 years old. Insurance age. I
won’t really be nine till Septem
ber. But most insurance com
panies make you older before
your time. Especially when you
have to pay the premiums. Well,
I better get off that subject be
fore Daddy comes in. He had an
accident is the reason I’m writing
the column this week. He can’t
use his left hand to type. The
way he hurt it is really funny to
everybody except Mom. Daddy
asked her to try to make his fav
orite dish, matzo balls. Mom
worked all day with them. Then
when she was serving them one
slipped off the spoon and crush
ed Daddy’s knuckles. Well, I don’t
guess Mom will give me my al
lowance this week. I just can’t
understand parents sometimes.
While I’m writing about matzo

l>alls is a good time to tell you
about Dad’s bowling last week,
since his bowling ball reminds me
of the kind Mom cooks. He was
high for the league Sunday nite.
He even beat all the ladies’ scores
for a change. He had a 234 game
and a 562 total. It’s a good thing
he had that before the accident.
Now when he bowls a bad game
he’ll have a good alibi. Even if
he does bowl right-handed. Well,
there goes a week’s allowance.
There was one other good game
for the men. Mr. Dick Born that
sells candy and is sometimes call-
the the Dentist’s Delight had a 202
game. The ladies did much bet
ter Mrs. Iris Levinson who is my
neighbor up the street and is real
pretty and nice and will most
likely buy a Boy Scout Jamboree
ticket from me after reading this
paper bowled a 179 game. And
Mrs. Pat Cohen who is also a
pretty lady but Who will prob
ably not buy a ticket because
her husband Mr. Doe Cohen
didn’t bowl as good as she did
had a 177 game and a 495 series.
And since Mr. Cohen won’t buy
a ticket anyway, I’ll go ahead
and tell about his conduct on the
golf course that I heard Daddy
talking about last nite Mr. Cohen,
who has a temper worse than
The Riddler on Batman, missed a
easy putt on number three at
Piedmont Park and threw his
putter toward the fourth tee, but

he was also short on that shot
and it landed in the street and
right then a car came by and
ran over it. Daddy said that now
every time Mr. Cohen putts, his
golf ball has Firestone stamped
on it. Now look, Mr. Cohen, I’m
only a nine year old, insurance
age yet, so don’t come looking for
me. And Daddy has a had hand,
so leave him alone. If you want
to hit somebody, why not Mr.
Adolph Rosenberg that prints
this stuff. The way he’s always
complaining about his troubles,
one more won’t hurt him.
AJCC Mens’ League
Golly, there was some real
good bowling here. Mr. Numbers
Aronin (I don’t know what his
real name is) had a 203-215-202-
620 to beat all the men and close
in on that skinny little man
named Mr. Winstorm or sumthing
like that who Daddy is always
picking on and I don’t blame
him ’cause he weighs less than
Dad does, which is pretty bad
news. Mr. Harris Silverman was
next with a 217-597 which Dad
says is pretty good for him con
sidering he only bowls 3 games
a week. Well, that’s better than
taking a week to. bowl 3 games,
which Dad says it takes Mr. Moe
Silver to do. Mr. Silver had a
very good 120 game last week,
and had to get 3 strikes in a row
in the 10th to do that good. He
must be terrible. Mr. Victor Leaf
was third best with a 233-584 but
Dad says the only reason he did
that well was because his wife

was sitting behind him yelling her
head off and giving instructions.
Just two big single games that I
see in the notes. Mr. S. Romoff
did a 208, and our neighbor Mr.
Abe Levinson had a 213. Big
Deal. Dad said to be sure to men
tion the BAWLER of the WEEK.
His name is Michael Cohen. He
belongs to Mr. and Mrs. Leon
Cohen. It looks like the Cohen
collection is getting bigger and
bigger every year. Dad says con-
grata! WeU, that’s all the news
right now. I’ve got to go hustle
these Boy Scout Jamboree Tick
ets. If some kid comes to your
door and asks you to buy a tick
et, don’t do it. Buy two. Bye
now.
