them having such a wonderful
time.”
The Forum reported to its
readers, that each day “the chil
dren learn new dances and songs,
both of Israel and of other coun
tries, including the United
States.” Sports and hikes also
were part of the day camp known
as “Camp Emuna”.
Paul Feder, president of Tem
ple Beth El feels the program has
merit. “It creates a new atmos
phere and helps to stimulate the
children to be more aware of
their faith and it shows them the
practical application of their
faith to everyday life,” he said in
the Forum.

The Fargo Jewish Community
apparently felt so enthusiastic
about the program which includ
ed discussions on Israel, Zionism
and Judaism that they will set
up a community day-camp next
summer and will hold commun
ity-wide events during the year.
As for SZO which is the uni
fied Zionist youth movement on
the college campus and is repre
sented on more than 150 college
campuses in North America, the
pilot project worked: “We’re
prepared to go to other small
Jewish communities next sum
mer,” said Mr. Dworkin, “Now
that we got Fargo to do things
on their own.”
The SZO program, thus may be
a harbinger for the future: Young
Jewish boys and girls going
every summer to small commun
ities; bringing Israeli dances and
songs and Jewish culture. Per
haps Stanley Rosenbaum of
Detroit, Mich., summed it up
best: “As Zionists, we are con
cerned with the perpetuation of
the Jewish people.”
To which, this writer might
add: “What better reason for a
“Domestic Education Corps?”
