to President Kennedy and later
to President Johnson, brought
messages from Sen. Edward Ken
nedy on behalf of the Kennedy
family and from President Lyn
don B. Johnson.
The message from President
Johnson said in part: "It is an
appropriate memorial to a Presi
dent whose life was devoted to
the advancement of knowledge
beyond conventional frontiers . . .
President Kennedy, who gave so
much of himself to the causes of
science and humanity, would
have been, I am sure, pleased
with the concept of this build
ing.”
Sen. Edward Kennedy wrote,
”... The Hadassah-Hebrew
University Medical Center is an
inspiring effort to carry on man’s
fight to treat and eradicate dis
ease in the world today ... all
members of the Kennedy family
. . . are indeed honored to be a
part of this magnificent complex
and endeavor, through the naming
of this building for President
Kennedy ...”
Mrs. Pauline Mack introduced
the architects, commenting on the
fact that they finished the build
ing on time, and what is more
unusual, did not exceed by a pen
ny the budget as estimated two
years previously. Total cost of
Hadassah’s John F. Kennedy Information and Tourist Center,
designed by Dan and Dr. Raphael Ben-Dor, architects.
Congratulatory messages were
extended by Teddy Kolek,

the U. S. Ambassador to Israel;
