Dr. Mescon To Address
Adult Institute Forum
“Dr. Michael H. Mescon, pro-
lessor ol Human Relations and
chairman of the Department of
Management in the School of
Business Administration at Geor
gia State College^ will be the key
note speaker at the Adult Insti
tute Forum on Wednesday, March
1, 1967 at 8:15 p.m. at the At
lanta Jewish Community Center,”
it was announced by Bernard
Gordon, president of the Atlanta
Bureau of Jewish Education.
The topic will be “Capitalism,
Judaism and the Individual.”
Mr. Gordon noted that Dr. Mes
con is holding a “Chair of Pri
vate Enterprise” at Georgia State
College which is the only one of
its kind in the United States.
Having earned his undergrad
uate and master degrees from the
University of Miami and his Ph.D
from New York University, Dr.
Mescon is the author of approx
imately forty articles and co-au
thor of the book “Organization
and Enterprise.” His article, “Mo
tivation and the Manager,” was
selected best article of the year
in 1963 by the Training Direc
tors Journal in the category
“Training, Theory and Research.”
In 1961 he was selected by In
dustrial Development Magazine
as one of the South’s outstanding
young leaders. In 1963 he was
named “Outstanding Young Man
of the Year in Education” by the
Atlanta Junior Chamber of Com
merce. In 1964 he received an
American Economic Foundation
Award for work in Economic Ed
ucation through the Chair of Pri
vate Enterprise.
Dr. Mescon served in the U. S.
Army in 1954 through 1956. In
addition, he has occupied both
line and staff positions in indus
try and has served in consult
ing, training, and lecturing ca
pacities for over 60 organizations
representing business, industry,
and governmental activities.
Mr. Gordon explained that this
Forum is an integral part of the
Adult Institute’s Spring Term
which started on January 25 and
ADL Regional

Indian Programs
Southern Director of the Anti-

“Perhaps,” saic
Mr. Freedman, Freedman
“Some may wonder why a mem
ber of the ADL professional staff is
asked by the government to serve
as a consultant on problems con
fronting the American Indians.”
He indicated that, although for
the 54 years of its existence ADL
has been known for its diligent
fight against anti-Semitism, “the
League is equally concerned with
the problems of all groups strug
gling for full enjoyment of de-/
mocracy. Not the least of these
is the need for the American In
dian to be full integrated into
American society.”
Mr. Freedman joined the ADL
staff in 1949. Prior to assuming
his present directorship of the
activities of the League’s seven
southern offices, he served as di
rector of the Southwest ADL Re
gional Office in Houston, Texas.
He is a board member of the
Southwest Center for Human Re
lations Studies located at the Uni
versity of Oklahoma, where he
has served as guest lecturer on
minority group problems.
DR. MESCON
will continue uninterruptedly
until Wednesday, March 29, 1967.
The Forum, which is open to
the public, will be followed by a
question and answer period and a
social hour. Further information
may be obtained by calling the
office of the Bureau of Jewish
