Federation Chooses Officers
A. Goldstein
The Federation’s Board of Di
rectors, ait its inaugural meet
ing March 25th, unanimously
elected the 1968 slate of officers
presented by the Nominating
Committee,
Abe Goldstein, outstanding
oommunity leader, was elected
president. He has served as in
terim president since the Federa
tion’s formation in October 1967.
Mr. Goldstein is an immediate
past president of the Atlanta
Jewish Welfare Fund and a past
president of the former Atlanta
Jewish C o m m u nity Council.
Among his many communal ac
tivities, Mr. Goldstein has served
as president of the Jewish Home
and is a former president of
Ahavath Aahim Synagogue and
B’nad B’rith Gate City bodge.
He has also hefld numer
ous and frequent top level of
fices in bath Atlanta Jewish com
munal activities and civic and
government affairs. He has been
cited for his achievements in Jew
ish social service work, including
work far the State of Israel. Mr.
Goldstein is president of Prior
Tire Industries, Inc. in Atlanta.
Elected as vice presidents were
Sidney Feldman, in charge of
Social Service; Max Rittenbaum,,
in charge of Community Relations
and Internal Affairs; and Milton
Weinstein, in charge of Campaign
and Allocations.
Mr. Feldman is a well-known
civic leader, having served as
president of the Progressive Club,
past chairman of the Atlanta
Jewish Welfare Fund, and vice
president of the Jewish Commun
ity Center. For several years he
successfully headed - the Bonds for
Israel campaign in Atlanta. Mr.
Feldman served as co-chairman
of the 1967 Israel Emergency
Fund drive, and is serving in a
similar capacity for the 1968 cam
paign. He is a partner in the Lon
don Iron & Metal Co.
Dr. Goldstein, an Atlanta den
tist, has long been active in Jew
ish communal affairs and other
Atlanta civic activities for many
years. He has been active in nu
merous civic and fraternal or
ganizations, having served as
president of B’nai B’ribh Gate
City Lodge, past president of Al
pha Omega Dental Fraternity
and Ahavath Achim Syna
gogue. He is a past chair
man of the Atlanta Jewish Wel-

fare Fund and currently serves
as co-chairman. Committee for
the Establishment of Chair of Ju
daic Studies at Emory Univer
sity.
Mr. Ritterubaum is -recognized
as a dedicated communal leader
for his varied activities within
the Jewish and general oommun
ity. Mr. Rittenbaum has twice
served as general chairman of the
Atlanta Jewish Welfare Fund and
was named the recipient of the
Benjamin J. MasseU Memorial
Award in 1965. Mr. Rittenbaum is
a member of the Board of Direc
tors of the Council of Jewish
Federations and Welfare Funds.
He is a past president of
Aha vath Aohim Synagogue,
B’nai B’rith Gate City Lodge,
and currently serves as co-
chairman, Committee for the Es
tablishment of Chair of Judaic
Studies at Emory University. He
is a partner in the firm of Rit
tenbaum Bros.
Mr. Weinstein has long been

with the Youth Division when it
was first organized. He has served
in every prominent position of
past campaigns and was elected
general chairman for the 1968
campaign. Mr. Weinstein is past
president of the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center and is a mem
ber of the cabinet of the United
Jewish Appeal. He is president of
National Service Industries.
Treasurer, Meyer L. Balser. Mr.
Balser has been extremely active
in all aspects of civic affairs for
many years, and one of the key
individuals in Welfare Fund cam
paigns. He served as general
chairman for two campaigns. Mr.
Balser was twice president of the
Progressive Club and serves ais
vice president of the Jewish
Home. He is also well known far
his -activity on behalf of the At
lanta Jewish Community Center,
and served as its president. He

Capian. Mrs. Cap Ian is well
known in Atlanta for her many
civic activities. She is a past
president of Hada-ssah- Atlanta
Chapiter, and currently serves as
president of the Southeastern Re
gion of Hadassah. She has been
active in the community-wide
