Week-Long “Israel on Tour” Begins March 18th - at Phipps Plaza

MADE-IN-ISRAEL—This lovely outfit is typical
of the variety scheduled for modeling at the
March 18 Fashion Show at Phipps. It features
a brown 7-8 length coat with black, grey and
red plaid trim and matching plaid weskit and
cuffed pants.
ISRAEL-MADE MUSIC by Hedva and David will
resound at the Preview on March 18—and often
during the week events at Phipps Plaxa, telling in
popular and classical notes about romance, dance,
bravery, hope and the things Israelis sing about.
Israel is coming to Atlanta via
a special promotional event at
Phipps Plaza starting March 18.
As a result of the cooperative
efforts between the Israeli Gov
ernment’s official offices here,
the Phipps Plaza management
and stores, and the Atlanta
Chapter of Hadassah, you will
be able to observe and feel the
special spirit of this small, cou
rageous country.
This special “Israel on Tour”
event will open on the evening
of March 18 and will continue
until March 24. During this
week, which will be open to the
public, the stores will salute Is
raeli industries by featuring
their “Made in Israel” merchan
dise including ready to wear,
high fashions, food products,
wines books, arts and crafts,
giftware, and paintings.

According to Eliezer Niv, di
rector of the Israeli Investment
and Export Authority office in
Atlanta, a cross section of these
products are sold successfully in
the southern region of the U. S.
Thousands of tourists from the
South have been coming yearly
to visit the Holy Land. Atlanta
has been fortunate in having the
regional office of the Israel Gov
ernment Tourist Office which
will take part in the event at
Phipps Plaza. Meshe Shoshani,
the director of the Tourist Of
fice, said there will be films of
Israel at the Phipps Plaza Thea
ter and a continuous showing of
slides presenting various scenes
and tourist attractions in Is
rael.
The newly opened office of El
A1 Israel Airlines, headed by Y.
Genkin, will have a stewardess to
guide the visitors. The opening
of this district office in Atlanta
is also a result of the flow of
tourists to Israel from Atlanta
and the surrounding area.
The opening ceremonies of
“Israel oh Tour” will take place
in the Phipps Plaza Mall, Wed
nesday, Ma*eb 18, at 8:30 p. m.
in the presence of dignitaries.
The opening event will be the
Hadassah Seligsberg Fashion
Show which will be coordinated
by Lord & Taylor. Israeli enter
tainers, Hedva and David, will
present a preview at 3:30 p. m.
the same day.

rael Museum in Jerusalem will
be one of the highlights of the
various events. Israeli dancing
and music will also be present

8:30 P.M.—Official opening of promotion, Hadassah Seligsberg
Fashion Show Israeli entertainment.
Thursday, March 19
11 A.M., 12 M., 1 P.M.—Israeli film "Bon Voyage,” at
Fashion Show, Israeli entertainmentt.
Phipps Theater with live Israeli entertainment.
7:30 P.M.—Israeli dance exhibit, Phipps-Plaza Mall.
Sun., March 22
3:30 P.M.—Israeli dance exhibit. Also films and slides of Israel.

country, while struggling on
many other fronts, has been
accomplished by the use of mod
ern techniques, scientific res
earch, and a high level of educa
tion in which immigrants from
all Over the world took part.
