Airlines has announced what
was called "a very unique and
very special” tour program to
Jerusalem.
Qalled “0 Jerusalem!” the
line-day and two-week packages
begin weekly departures

and Central America.
Zev Melamid, president of
Tower Travel, who presented
details of the package at a press
conference, called it “an oppor
tunity for the tourist to expand
his horizons, to walk where few
have walked before, to learn
about his people, his heritage,

KoHek for each and every traveller on the “0 Jerusalem” tours
to a “cocktail reception and buffet supper” at the Israel
Museum. The agreement was formalized during a personal in-
depth visit to Jerusalem by the El A1 representative. Mr.
Gen ken, headquartered in Atlanta, reported “You can hardly
imagine how enthusiastic Mayor Kollek is about the ‘O
Jerusalem’ tours. He really will mount special hospitality for the
lucky men and women who’ll make this special tour.”

What precipitated these ac
colades is a package that offers a
heady mixture of scholarship
and people-to-people exchanges.
According to Melamid, “O
Jerusalem!” participants will be
able to visit sites “still closed to
the general “public,” including
the new excavations by the
Western Wall, as well as several
ancient synagogues.
Jerusalem Mayor Teddy
Kollek has agreed to hold a
reception for each group of tour
participants.
"0 Jerusalem!” tourists will
also hear lecturers from univer
sity professors expert in such
fields as archeology and history
so that, in the words of Melamid,
when they get to a site, “they
won’t only see, they’ll un
derstand.”
Another feature of the “0
Jerusalem!” program is that in
the evening the party will split
up into small two and three-
couple groups to eat dinner with
ethnic groups that make up; the
city’s mix, including Yemenites,
Kurds and Arabs, all of whom
have agreed to open their homes
to the tourists.
Tour guides used in this
program have received special
training from Zev Yilnay,
professor of history at Hebrew
University, author of the
definitive Israel Guide, and
widely considered a leading
authority on Jerusalem.
The 9-day package tour
departs on Mondays. It will
cost between $925 and $1195.
The two-week tour will cost
from $10$$ and $1275. It
departs on Wednesdays. Hilton
and Plaza hotels are used in
both.
"EL AL’s 15 District Managers
will sponsor a total of 40 agents
seminars to brief retailers on the
“0 Jerusalem!” tour details.
The package will be available
to retail travel agents from

Inc., Isram Travel, Kopel Tours,
Sharon Travel and Tower Travel

Israel Unveils 76
Solidarity Symbol
In response to the decision
taken at the recent Jerusalem
Solidarity Conference during
which 1976 was declared a year
of Jewish Solidarity and Aliya
LaRegel through tourism to
Israel, the Government of Israel
has prepared a specially design
ed symbol.
Carrying the shape of a Star
of David (Magen David), the
design consists of the word
“Zion” in Hebrew and English
and contains the phrase “Arise
and let us go up to Zion” (Kumu
Ve’na’aleh).
The Atlanta Chapter of
Hadassah will hold a setninar
stressing- the importance of
travel to Israel at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday, Apr. 8, at the Ex
ecutive Park Motor Hotel.
Hadassah’s national tourism
chairman, Mrs. Israel Usdan,
will conduct the seminar. Par
ticipating will be Consul General
of Israel Nahum Astar,
representatives from the Israel
Government Tourist Office and
El A1 Israel Airlines. Raffie Stiel
of Israel and New York City will
discuss various world tours.
Over 1000 Americans are ex
pected to take part in a double
dedication tour taking place
June 13-29. Two major medical
facilities in Jerusalem will be
dedicated. One is the Ullmann
Building for Cancer and Allied
Diseases at the Hadassah-
Hebrew University Medical
Center in Ein Kerem. The other
facility is the Guggenheim
Rehabilitation Pavilion on
Mount Scopus.
There is no charge for the
seminar, to which all members
and friends of Hadassah are in
vited.
