Plans are now being for
mulated to offer h summer camp
experience at the Center. Camp
Havanah’s first session is June
21 through July 16. The, second
session July 19 through August
13.
HAVANAH Special Education Program youngsters enjoying
the Purim Carnival at the Jewish Community Center. The
program, sponsored by the Atlanta Bureau of Jewish Education,
provides exceptional children the opportunity to learn Jewish
customs and beliefs. Classes meet Sunday mornings at the
Hebrew Academy. Steve Markowitz is supervisor and head
teacher.
Havanah is the Hebrew word
for understanding, and un
derstanding the needs of the
special children (retarded, brain
damaged and neurologically im
paired) in the Atlanta communi
ty, is the goal of the AJCC in
providing recreational and
The camp will be offered Mon
day through Friday, from 10:00
a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Camp Havanah
will utilize the facilities of the
Center, with a program under
guidance of experienced
counselors sensitive to the needs •
of special children. Transporta
tion will be available based on
need. Activities will include dai
ly fieid trips to such places as:
Royal Bagel, Zaban Park,
Farmer’s Market, post office,
police station, WSB, Stone
Mountain and other sights.
At the Center, the children
will be involved in swimming,
gym activities, racquetball, art,
music and Israeli dancing.
The summer Havanah
program is a continuation of the
winter program for special
children which the Center in
augurated last year.
The staff includes a director,

ty Crusade. The drive will be in
augurated at a breakfast at 8
a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 6, at the
downtown Marriott Hotel.
Giniger-Snyder
Mr. and Mrs? Mort Giniger of
Atlanta announce the coming
marriage of/ their daughter
Patricia Ellen to Adam Snyder,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Snyder of Larchmont, N.Y.
Ms. Giniger graduated from
Washington University in St.
Louis, and is a past international
president of B’nai B’rith Girls.
For 1 Ik years, she was a legal
aide and research assistant to
former congressman Ogden R.
Reed of New York, who was
formerly the United States Am
bassador to Israel. At present,
she is the legislative staff assis
tant to Congressman Norman Y.
Mineta of San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Snyder is a graduate of
Hampshire College. He was
formerly employed as the press
secretary to Congressman
Ogden Reed and currently serves
as press secretary to
Congressman J. La Falce of Buf
falo.
The wedding will take place in
Washington on June 27.
Miles Alexander has been
sworn in as a member of Atlan
ta’s License Review Board. He
will serve for one year as chair
man of the board, which reviews
and makes recommendations on
applications for liquor licenses
and other permits. Alexander,
44, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate
of Emory University. He holds a
degree with honors from Har
vard Law School.
Mr. and Mrs. Eli Wise of
Atlanta announce the birth of a
son, Jarrod Alan, on February
24. Grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Sidney Gottler and Mr. and
Mrs. Isaac Wise, all of Atlanta.
Great-grandparents are Mrs.
Pearl Gottler of Boston and Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Krinetsky.
