roblems; we did not know here for the laet two^yeark. Now
there are 60 people here, not 16
aa H used to be. And all of them
were met by the Jewish Federa
tion . All of them Rot
apartments, ware provided with
all the necessities, were sur»
rounded with warmness and
attention. Almost all of them
were sent to different doctor!
and dentists.
And H’i not a secret that a lot
of us came with bad teeth and
some other illnesses. The Jewish
Federation and Jewish com
munity took care of all of them
free of charge. Almost all
children are enrolled in the
Hebrew Academy rather than
public school. The Hebrew
Academy is a private sehool,
American Jews are paying 6100
a month for the tuition alone,
!nglish and we did not have a
Job. But everything depends on
the differences in each im
migrant personally, from bis
age, profession, etc. All of us
started to go to different
language courses. The younger
people had less troubles lemming
’new language, children didn’t
have any problems at all. They
went to school and started to
talk fluently in half a year. For
us, people who are more than 40
or 60 years old, learning a
language is much harder/ Ail
this is quite natural. It’s not easy
to change your language when
more than half of your life is
behind you and the only
language you ever knew and
talked was Russian.
A lot of new families came
