As an outgrowth of the Atlan
ta Jewish Welfare Federation’s
"Shalom Atlanta” program,
many yobng single Jewish
Atlantans have expressed a
desire to join with friends to
learn more about their Jewish
heritage, culture, and identity.
The Tint of what is expected
to be a series of events has been
planned for 7:30 p.m. Wednes
day, Dec. 8, at the West Paces
Racquet Club, 2900 South Pharr
Court, N.W.
Bob Evans, former CBS News
Correspondent will be the guest
speaker on the subject "Oil:
Israel — Will the U.S. have to
Choose?"
An ad hoe committee planning
the program icludes Marcia
Caller, Susan Caller, Mark
Eisenberg, Alan Filstein, Brian
Wertheim, Debbie Chetlin, Carol
Ashkinaze, Bill Silvers, Brenda

ORT Hosts
Hanuka Party
For Kids
North Suburban ORT will
hold its annual Hanuka Party
for youngsters between the ages
of four and twelve on Friday,
Dec. 10, from 8:80 p.m. through
5:80 p.m. The party will be held
in the Hidden' Branches
Clubhouse, 1818 Winding
Branch Circle, Dunwoody.
An admission of $1.50 per
child will cover refreshments, a
movie, and entertainment.
Each child is asked to bring a
small gift for the Hanuka Grab
Bag.
The party is open to all
youngsters in this age group.
Reservations may be obtained

Woman !r Role In Educationi
Theme Of Epstein Dinner =
Mrs. Reva Epstein has been
chosen to represent the
"American Jewish Mother,”
main strength of Jewish educa
tion, at a dinner for the benefit
of the Rabbi Harry H. Epstein
Solomon Schechter School of
Atlanta on December 8. The
event will take place at 7:80 p.m.
at Ahavath Achim Synagogue.
Mrs. Epetein, who was born in
Poland, studied in the Gym
nasium in Suvalki, at the
University of Berlin, and at the
Sorbonne in Paris. Coming to
Chicago in 1927, with English a
strange language, she graduated
from the University of Chicago
the following year with highest
honors. The University offered
her an instructorship in
languages, since she was

Temple Women Art Auction
Baby sitter will be available at
$1 per child and can be arranged

The Temple Sisterhood will
have an art auction on Sunday,
Dec. 5, at the Temple. There will
be a preview at 3 p.m. followed
by the auction at 4 o’clock.
Among the artists represented
are Batkin, Chagall, Dali, Durer,
Goya; Lad tree, Picasso,
Rosenberg, Rembrandt, Utrillo
and Whistler. .

"Inter-dependence" Day
The American Jewish Com
mittee, Atlanta Chapter, and the
Atlanta Jewish Welfare Federa
tion are among the three dozen
sponsoring organizations of an
all-day metro-Atlanta town hall
meeting to be held Wednesday,
Dec. 8, at the Druid Hills
Presbyterian Church.

and Davids Weiss, both living in
Chieago. There are four
grandchildren, Jonathan and
Rachel Lynn Lavin and Deborah
Ellen and Julienne Mara Weiss.

greater cooperation.

for a luncheon forum which will
be addressed by Ms. Emma

V4 (scant) cup sugar ^
4 oranges, peeled and sec
tioned
3 large grapefruits, peeled
and sectioned
1 pineapple, cot in wedgee
3 pears, peeled and sliced
2 apples (impeded), cut
in small wedgea
Mix juices and sugar, stirring
until well blended. Combine
fruit. Pour juice over fruit.
Serves 6.
Salmon Casserole
Salmon has come down in
price a bit from ita previous
level, so now’s the time you
might want to try making this
flavorful casserole.
1 can red salmon, drained
1 can pink salmon, drained
1 can cream of mushroom
seup
1 can cream of celery soup
3 eggs, beaten
V4 to V« cup soft bread
crumbs
1 tblap. lemon juice
salt, pepper
Break the salmon up. Remove
skin and bones. Mix all in
gredients together. Put into a
greased casserole and bake at
350 degrees for one hour, or until
firm and brows on top. Serve
hot or cold. Serves 8.
