AJCC, JFCB Offer Groups
Family Living Theater
The Atlanta Jewish Com
munity Center and the Jewish
Family and Children’s Bureau
have developed a challenging
program, the Family Living
Theater, which is now available
to Jewish organizations
throughout the Atlanta Com
munity.
The concept of this Family
Living Theater program is to en
courage awareness and to
heighten conciousness around
realistic family concerns,
relationships, and problems.
Each twenty minute playlet is
open ended so that the audience
becomes involved with the issues
raised. A professional discussion
facilitator accompanies each

benefits from the discussion that
follows each playlet.
Each performance is
presented by members of the
AJCC Theater Workshop. The
purpose of this community ser
vice program is to focus on vital
issues and concerns in daily liv
ing, and to present a stimulating
setting where these issues will
be readily discussed. There is a
modest charge for this program.

AJCC Starts
Big Brothers
A program to provide adult
“Big Brothers,” to boys without
fathers living in the home is un
derway at the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center.
The established need for a
wholesome adult male
relationship for boys seven to
fourteen who do not have a con
sistent male figure in the home
will be met by volunteers over
21, through the new “Ohev
Achim” (Loving Brothers)
program.
Participants will be asked to
meet twice a month and to keep
in touch at other times. The
program will encourage par
ticipation in activities without
charge, such as bike riding,
hikes, kite flying, homework,
sports and similar activities of
interest to both the Big and Lit
tle Brother.
Anyone interested in learning
more about the program, either
in becoming a big brother, or as
a single parent with a male child
between seven and fourteen, can
call Jen Levison or Joel Gross at
the AJCC, 875-7881.
Hanuka Workshop
The family activites com
mittee of the AJCC has set a
date for the family Hanuka
workshop, on Sunday, Dec. 12,
from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in
the Center auditorium.
On tap for the workshop are
such activities as making
dreidels, home decorations,
learning songs, games and ways
for families to “bring home” new
ways to celebrate Hanuka.
A charge of $1.00 for adults
and 75 cents for children to cover
the cost of the materials is the
price of admission.

Hanuka Program
For Havanah
The Atj^ita Jewish Com
munity Center, in cooperation
with the Atlanta Bureau of
Jewish Education, announces
the first winter program for the
“special children” of the Atlanta
Jewish Community. “Havanah
Hanuka Happening” will
provide social, recreational and
cultural experiences while the
schools are dosed for the Winter
recess.
The program is open to
children six years old through
high school age. “Hanuka
Happening” will begin Tuesday,
Dec. 21, for four days. It ends on
Friday, Dec. 24. The time each
day will be from lO.DO a.m. to
3:00 p.m..and transportation to
and from the AJCC will be
provided. Activities include gym
hockey, swimming, cartoons,
making popcorn, games for
Hanuka, dancing, arts and
crafts and much more. A bowl
ing excursion is planned for one
of the days and is also included.
At thi$ time, the sponsors are
looking for concerned, sensitive
group leaders, who would
benefit both IVom a rewarding
experience and monetary com
pensation.

AJCC Lists
New Courses
Among the classes beginning
in December at the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center are
adult classes in photography,
painting, “how to get published,”
ceramics and silk flower and
dried floral arrangements.
Sunday classes for children in
clude “tools for tots,” ceramics,
drawing and painting and
puppetry.
