featured at Shearith Israel
Synagogue on Friday, Apr. 15, at
8 p.m.
The Greater Atlanta Council
of B’nai B’rith Women will host
the Oneg Shabbat in honor of the
captives’ safe return to their
families.
Also being recognized will be
the presidents of the seven BBW
chapters in the Atlanta com
munity and the incoming
presidents: Esther Reehtman,
jane Scheinfeld, Arlene Jacob
son, Shelley Morton, Ann Levin,
Miriam Weinstein, Jeanne John
son, Sue Rappaport, Shirley
Miller, and Pearl Dvoekin.
Participating in the services
will be Celia Adler, president of
the BBW Council, and Mrs. Sara
Fogel of Augusta, a charter
member of BBW in Atlanta and
one of the founding presidents.
Shearith Israel Sisterhood
The Congregation Shearith
Israel Sisterhood will hold
“Make and Bake Day” on Mon
day, Apr. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. in the Shearith Israel Social
Hall, with lunch to be served at
noon.
The program features mini-
workshops in needlepoint, talit
making, crocheted yarmulkes,
book repair, and how to bake
challahs.

hold a wine and cheese tasting
party on Saturday, Apr. 16, at

Councilettes, the teenage
branch of the National Council
of Jewish Women, are preparing
for their second National Coun-
cilette Convention to be held

Center Hotel in Atlanta. Co
chairpersons for the Convention
are Miss Nancy Goldstucker,
president of the Atlanta Coun
cilettes and on the national
Councilette board, and Miss San
dy Brandt, treasurer of the
Atlanta Councilettes.
The co-chairpersons, the two
local delegates Miss Jackie
Frank and Miss Jodi Falk,
along with other club members
have been working hard on the
arrangements and decorations.
The theme of the convention
will be ‘Councilettes in Action.’
Their number one program
priority has been Justice for
Children. Adult leadership

home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L.
Goldstucker. Sunday’s highlight
will be an address by Mrs.
Esther Lands, national presi
dent of the NCJW, at an

close the Convention.

educational director , and ad
ministrator at the Temple in the
mid-1950s, pays a return visit as
the featured speaker of the
Temple’s 110th birthday celebra
tion at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 26.
Salz, who retired three years
ago, has been a free lance writer
and speaker on Jewish interests
and is said to have a spicy sense
of humor.

observance, Yom Hazikaron, on

the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Yom Hazikaron is the
Memorial Day which occurs one
day prior to Israeli
Independence Day, held In honor
of those who gave their lives for
the birth and continued ex
istence of the State of Israel.
