go to Israel this summer for a
Folklore-Dance Tour to take
place between June 20 and July
4.
The tour, which is expected to
draw participation from across
the country, is being led by Vi
vian Miller, Atlanta folk dance
specialist. It is being coordinated
with the Israel Ethnic Dance
Project and the Israeli Folk
Dance Committee.
In addition to special instruc
tional classes and tours, the visit
will include excursions to several
colorful ethnic settlements
(Arabic, Yemenite, Kurdish and
Druze) for a rare experience of
seeing villagers performing their
dances in authentic costume.
Involvement in both the an
cient dances and folklore and the
modern folk dance of Israel will
provide a greater understanding
of the influences involved in the
creation of Israeli folk dance and
Israeli society in general.
Reservations are required by
May 4. Information is available
