tram laada tha aaatern
division with a 18-5 re
cord followed ciaaely by
John Chaffetx 114,
Don Jaslow 10-6 and
Wayna Aronaon 11*8.
Hottest team in the
league is Steve Greene’s.
Steve’s team won 9 out
of their last 10 games
and lead the western
division. Following Greene’s
team is Dr. Charles Rosenberg
7-7, Frank Cervasio 6-7 and
Jeff Baumrind with 6-10 rec
ord.
Jerry Sobelson, league pa
triarch, is still pitching as
good as ever. Seems Jerry keeps
improving with age ... Hustling
Stan Firestone can still run the
bases and slide with the best
(that is when he gets on)... Dr.
Sid Tourial is having one of his
best years in the field . . . The
heavy hitting of Larry Wolf,
Jerry Schwartz and Mark
Fleishman is keeping their team
in contention for the play-offs ..
. Fred Benamy looks a lot more
relaxed this year now that he
isn’t softball chairman . . . It’s
good to see “Gabby” Balser play
ing again after being Ih retire
ment ... George Shulhofer must
get lonely in left field with
nobody to kibbitz him . . . there
are a lot of young players in the
league but some of the old-
timers who keep coming back for
bile more year are Harris Jacobs,
Randy Feinberg, Sid Pike, Ed
Harelik, Gary Leff, Alvin
Verner, Norm Lebedin and Jerry
Yeager . . . Thanks to Morris
Frank, softball chairman, for
the time and effort he has put
forth in making this an outstan
ding season.

If anyone has the idea that
you have to be a little
"meehugineh" to play basketball
in the middle of the summer —
they're probably right However,
you’ll get a strong argument to
the contrary from the 64 guys
who make up this year’s league.
Who says there’s no place for
the little man in basketball.
Randy Tracy, Pete Rosen, Mark
Hoffman and Jerry Schwartz,
all under 5’10", are currently
averaging better than 20 points a
game . . . 611” David Plummer
has to be the best leaper in the
league . . . Dr. Joel Felner has
the single game high so far this
year, 40 points . . . Mark
Jacobsen threw in 30 points in a
big 76-74 win over the Green
team. . .
Young Michael Weiner might
just be the best all around player
in the league . . . Ken (son of
Miles) Alexander is a second
generation player; we’re going to
have a lot of these guys in a few
years... Congratulations to Roy
(Hatchet) Blase for completing a
game with less than five fouls ..
. This year’s “GeritoT all-star
team consists of Mike Nemeroff,
Randy (“I never touched him,
ref!”) Feinberg, Vic (tree)
Romono, George (Washington)
Wise, Stan (the back brace)
Sobel, Jerry (the two handed
bomber) Finkelstein and Bill
(the bullet) Samuels.
Congratulations to Jerry
(Smokey) Fields on being
selected new chairman of the
Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
Jerry has organized several new
committees and has many new,
exciting ideas . . . Now that
